By not mentioning Primark it almost looks like you were trying to hide something.(not saying you were) I would be worried. If the buyer is expecting better quality they could be rather annoyed when it arrives

If a jacket didn't state a brand, I'd be thinking it might be a 1-off unique item, rather than an off the shelf mass produced item. If something from Primark then turned up, I'd be really p*ssed off, and would definitely leave a negative.

Yes, the buyer could enquire, but as you know the brand, then why didn't you write it on the auction?

Is there an image where it can clearly be seen that it's Primark?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I've never seen a Primark store let alone their clothing items but are their clothes labelled "Primark" too or something that associates with Primark...like George to ASDA? If it is, then it might have been worth mentioning on the listing. If not, then an adequate description and photo would be enough IMO.

Here's where I'm worried, the Jacket was from Primark but I havent mentioned that on the listing (didnt mention any brand/store - just item descrip/info) - Can I be penalised for this with neg feedback? No one has asked where the coats come from...and its no longer avaliable in store.

If no one's asked who the shop/manufacturer is, it's their problem, if problem it is at all.

I'd hazard a guess that anyone bidding on it knows exactly what it is and where it's from, and has been hoping they'd see one on ebay for ages.

Me, I'm happy to sell everything I list at above the price I paid for it. The higher above it the better. In fact, if I didn't, I'd have to go out looking for employment again.
Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
    Should OF, would OF
. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.

Blimey People - it's Ebay not Harrods.

If someone buys something it is usually because they like the look of it. If it starts to get in the bracket of expensive then the buyer should maybe ask a few pertinent questions!?!?!?

You have not misled and you have not lied. It is an auction and it looks like you are going to make some money. Good on you.

This is another of those sisues though where it doesn't matter what a random number of people on an internet forum think. The OP asked "Jacket going for way more than original purchase price...can i be penalised??"

The simple amswer to that being 'yes' if the eventual buyer feels misled. The OP obviously has some concerns and possibly feels uneasy as they realise this isn't straightforward, otherwise they wouldn't be asking the question.

No actually its the sellers problem. By omitting that from the description they lead themselves wide open to a claim and poor feedback.

As Soolin says it really doesn;t matter what we say here the OP has concerns and rightfully so. Until the item is actually sold and you know what the reaction of the purchaser is who knows if this omission will come back to bite the OP
  • Hi all thanks v much for all your feedback...

Ive tried to cover myself by adding a note to the bottom of the listing, but this does not seem to have deterred further bids :D

If Im honest I maybe a little miffed if I'd paid £33 for a Primark coat that was bought a lot less in store (although no longer available)

Then again I also bid because I like the item; the brand isnt that important to me as long as it's in good nick and matches the discription when it arrives. I can see two sides of the coin... I'd be a lousy politician!

The "Atmosphere" (What George is to Asda!) label is visable in the picture, so those avid Primarkers will know where the jacket originates..

I haven't intentionally left out labelling the item as Primark - I have higher end highstreet clothes listed too and also havent mentioned the stores (perhaps I should to provoke more views! If you haven't guessed already Im relatively new to selling!) ....admittedly this is out of pure laziness. I had a clear out and lots of things to photograph & list.

Thanks again for all your responces - will be more vigilant next time.

    Best wishes
  • I wouldn't worry......as you say the Atmosphere label is visible in the photo's.
Primark/Atmosphere items nearly always seem to sell for more than what they cost.

    Especially if they're "Designer Look-a-likes". ;)

It's so difficult to see the way something is made on ebay though. You could have a Vivienne Westwood dress and a Primark copy both on ebay. The designer one will be better made so worth paying more for.
