snake died

Wow. That is very expensive for a burmese python unless it had very very special markings. They are very hardy snakes and can live through some pretty extreme conditions. Here is a link to some just so you can compare

It was probably a few months to a year old. I would be surprised if anything your friend did killed it. Would only need to feed once a week so if the shop had fed it before the sale no issue about feeding. They can go weeks if no food is available in the wild so starvation is not an issue. It could have been new into the shop and had a disease that would not have been obvious. The shop may have only had it a few days before selling it and may be able to speak to their breeder/supplier. Hopefully it was bred and not a wild caught but again at the price I am expecting it to have rare purpose bred markings. The vet report may be of use to the shop in getting a positive response from their supplier. Hope this helps. Poor snake:(0 -

Interesting one. Not sure if relevant but with horses it is up to the buyer to have the horse vetted and ensure it is fit.
Obviously at the time your friend bought the snake it looked fine. So how would he expect the pet shop to know it is ill (retorical question that just highlights the problem)0 -
It beats me why people want to keep a snake like that as a pet. It's not like having a cat or dog, is it?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I have a little zoo going on with a dog / cat / chickens / lizards / snake / spider / terrapin and in the past I've had everything else, fish / rabbits / mice / gerbils / hamsters / scorpions / millipedes and a few others I've forgotten.
I have to say that the snake is definitely the easiest to look after and indeed the most pleasing. We have dead mice in the freezer (next to the ice cream) and we feed the snake one or two every few weeks. Then there is a water bowl that is topped up or changed every few days, and the droppings are cleared out every few weeks.
And there is nothing better than having a snake wrapped round your neck or arm and moving slowly to get into a better position. It saves a fortune on fancy massagers.
Oh and my snake was only £25 and I made the vivarium myself out of an old bookcase so that's why £500 is a bit of a shock.:eek:0 -
Hope it goes to Court quickly or else the 'evidence' is going to get a bit smelly....0

I got a eastern Diamondback, not de-venomed, i had to have a DWA licence from police as well as CRB check and to have anti venom, chain mail body armour, snake gloves, visor and a triple lock tank with a double locked room with no escape cracks in the doors or windows, and what they eat is frozen baby mice or live mice if your sadistic, my snakes could sell up to £700 each if i tried to sell them properly, however, any breeding done goes to wildlife to put into regeneration projects in Florida. If one died if i sold it sto another breeder, i would blame the breeder, as all the animals live perfectly fine unless you try to feed them the wrong things or don't have correct temperatures for habitats, possibly in the cold weather a Burmese could have froze, this happens if you keep them externally in buildings with no heating.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
