Who leaves feedback first - buyer or seller?

Generally, if you had sold items would you wait for the buyer to leave you feedback before leaving them feedback, or is it the other way round?

I'm usually a buyer, and think I usually leave feedback when I receive the item and then the seller reciprocates, but as I sold 6 items last week and only 1 buyer has left me feedback, I wonder if they're waiting for me to do it first?

I know the items have been received as they were sent recorded...

Thanks!

Its a personal preference. As a buyer I don't leave it untill i've checked the item. As a seller I leave it as soon as i receive payment. As you cant leave negs for buyers its pointless waiting around and I forget if I don't. A lot of sellers don't leave feedback until the buyer has.

I really wouldn't worry about it feedback is optional so I wouldnt chase it up as you may get negged as others have found out.. If there is a problem i'm sure they'll tell you

A friend used to be a power seller and they tended to use auto-feedback so that it would leave feedback automatically as soon as the buyer had left feedback. Manually leaving feedback would simply have taken too much time as they sold 100s of items every week.

I'm usually a buyer (when I can afford it) and it really annoys me that the seller has received my money and yet hasn't lefy me feedback. If they're waiting for me to leave mine then they cannot have enough confidence in their product to think I am not going to be delighted.

I often prompt them to leave it for me but if they don't then I won't and if there is anything wrong with the goods at all I wait to the very last day to leave a neg. Had they left me a pos then the worse I would have done is a neutral.

Im usually a buyer and leave feedback as soon as item is received and checked. I sell the odd thing and always leave feedback as soon as buyer has paid. It really annoys me when a seller doesn't leave feedback for me - if they ask me to leave it before they leave mine then I don't leave any at all.

I assume they had / have a shop? If so they should have selling manager, it’s a more advanced “My eBay” interface.

If I have 20 orders to process my eBay page will say

I need to post 20 items
I need to leave feedback for 20 items

I can simply highlight all, mark as dispatched and hit the feedback button, I can then select what feedback I want to leave from a drop down box and press OK and it will give all buyers feedback.

    Takes 20 seconds.

As a buyer, I would leave feedback when the item arrived and I was happy with it, as a seller I tend to wait until the buyer leaves it, so that I know that they are happy and it has arrived safely. I never thought about it from Dr.Shoe's POV above, that it may look like I don't have confidence in my items.

Whenever i sell somthing on Ebay.. ON the condition that they pay via paypal instantly i leave feedback instantly for them.. they've kept up their end of the bargain by paying for the goods, what more can they do?

.. same sort of thing when buying.. Only leave feedback when you're satisfied you've got the goods in correctly working order.

    You shoul;dn't wait to leave/receive re-active feedback..
    just leave it honestly :)

It's not the items that I wouldn't have confidence in but Royal Mail and some nutty buyers who don't read the listing properly. Although as sellers can only leave a pos it is kind of pointless as cyberbob says. Still would irritate me if I left a pos and got a neg (especially with new buyers with hardly any feedback).
