I'm sorry to hear you received such nasty abuse, but I do agree that you shouldn't have parked your car there. What seems like a lot of space to get past to an experienced driver is not to a learner! I've been driving for over 5 years, and I'm a confident driver but I do worry about whether a space is big enough to get through or not, and do find it really annoying when people park inconsiderately.Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0

Ease up you lot! Maybe the OP has been having a carp time and this was just one other incident that made her (assuming OP is a 'her') think that life and people in general is pretty !!!!!!. Sometimes everything just seems to go wrong! Sure, we've all been there at some time.
May not be a big deal to you but might be to her/him and she/he felt the need to let off some steam?'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

That is precisely what is wrong with the world today.
The OP parked her car in a way which left room for people to drive around it - if she had acted selfishly she could have left her car in the middle of the forecourt leaving no space for people to get around.
The fact is, if you have been having a bad day (or week), the kids are playing up and you need bread the last thing you want to do is to get them in and out of the car. To me this wasn't lazy, it was practical. Im not saying people can park where they like but this IMO was a considered decision by the OP that it was not obstructive and could be easily viewed.
If people have such problems manouvering then they shouldn't be driving.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Some of the replies on here are harsh and a bit nit picky! The OP has posted because she is having a tough time and has clearly been upset by peoples attitude towards her, and there are people posting on here nit picking and being funny with her just because of where she parked at a garage!
I bet those who are complaining on here have probably parked badly at some point in their lives!
I agree with yoni_one, in the great scheme of things people like that do not matter. There are always going to be people like that who turn making a simple trip into a garage into an opportunity to moan and complain, some people are never happy!
You just focus on yourself, your children and the future ahead. I hope things improve for you.xx0 -

I've never seen a newspaper article that's even similar to this, and I've lived in some pretty rough areas!
It happens, i dont know how you have missed the articles, Im sure someone will back me up. A determied thief can be away in a car in less than 1 minute. Believe me, i have seen it happen. luckily it didnt involve children in the back seats.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
OP,
Everyone treats you like carp? That sucks but maybe, just maybe, you come across as rude yourself?
I've never experienced such rudeness at such frequency (although your petrol station stunt was pretty stupid) and I can't help but think the only thing in common with all of these confrontations is you. Start looking inwards instead of outwards, you may see the problem.0 -
shandella - dont take any notice whatsoever of these idiots! so you left your car at the pump to pay and get bread at same time! so what? my OH always waits to use the pump nearest the pay point - for reasons known only to himself and doesnt exactly park close to it! so peeps behind get a bit impatient - I used to get annoyed with him - but realised he does this because he knows someone in front may box him in! its funny really - why do people get so worked up about a few seconds or even (shock - horror) a whole minute of having to wait!
go about your life doing what you have to do - other people may be rude or obnoxious - you dont have to be hun, just ignore them! appreciate those who are polite and thoughtful - ignore the rest - thats what i do - its better for my blood pressure!0 -

For about the 20th time SHE WASN'T AT THE PUMP, nor was she in a parking space. She parked where she felt like it without consideration for other garage users!!!!! Do you need a flowchart and floorplan???!!!I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I think without witnessing the parking event, we don't really know who was to blame. However, as far as I can see this was not really the point that the OP was trying to make.
I know what you mean in that some days, it seems everything you do goes wrong and you wonder 'what have I done'. Sometimes I have days like this when driving - I'm a reasonable driver and try to be courteous to other road users - on a road where there were parked cars on both sides, I pulled into a gap to let an oncoming car through. The driver behind, me did not like this and tried to get past. When he couldn't, he then proceeded to tailgate me & shouted abuse. Yes this type of thing is annoying, frustrating and at times upsetting - as well as the examples you have given.
However, you need to try not to dwell on them (easier said than done I know). There are a lot of ignorant rude people about, but there are even more kind people - you just need to find them! Don't give up on volunteering and trying to broaden your circle of friends - it will get easier:)0 -

How can you possibly talk about what is "polite and thoughtful", and what is rude when you are happy to block other people in and force them to wait a minute? Not everyone leads mundane lives where we can afford to wait for indecisive, selfish dawdlers who think the world revolves around them. Being polite and thoughtful would involve not making other people wait after you. Jesus, if every person I encountered found it justifiable to make me wait for "a whole minute" I'd never get anything done.0
