Hi everyone I tried to put a new post but not very good at this site....so used a reply to enable me to put this out....sorry if that is wrong.
I need to get a gas combi boiler fitted like now and so i contacted 'British Gas' as they are who we pay for our utility bills.
They called the house phone after asking them to call my mobile and spoke to my disabled husband as I wasn't there.
The engineer told my husband that the quote would be between £2200 and £2500 but he would not be able to come to the house unless we were agreeing to have the work done.
Firstly is this really how gas companies work ?
Secondly is this an acceptable quote ?
How can they quote when they haven't seen the work ?
please help as we really need this work done soon it worries me how I am going to pay for this but the heating is necessary0 -

If you told them you were happy with price ,he would then give you a quote.
I would phone BG up and complain, then get a local guy to install the job for you.X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.

Very odd behaviour...are you sure it wasn't a BG engineer trying to do a 'homer' i.e. snatching work from BG whilst an employee (a sackable offence from what I've learned from BG engineers on another forum).
Any RGI worth his/her salt wouldn't give a price without seeing the job.

I do not normally post in forums but I have been so impressed with the service I received from Boiler Prices. I was totally confused and lost as to what I should be paying for a new boiler. I searched Boiler prices in google and found a site called boilerprices, they assisted in sourcing 3 quotes for me from local contractors, I ended up paying £300 less than the best quote I sourced myself.
