Ahhh, I could tell you sooooo many stories of my time working in Primark, but THIS is my favourite

I used to work on the customer service desk, so we processed returns etc. There was normally myself and a girl named Nicola working on the desk.

So this nice little woman, around 50 walks up and wants to return her trousers, as she says they are too small for her. She had the receipt, and it was within 30 days so that is fine, so Nicola processes the return for her, and gives her the money back.

Now, in Primark when you return clothing items - they get cut up/ripped up and put in the bin, so Nicola is cutting up these pair of trousers, and she noticed something weird about the trousers.

THE WOMAN HAD WONDERWEBBED THEM! No wonder they were too small for her! She had used her own sewing machine to take them up. I don't know how she had the audacity to return them!

I know this is off topic - but WHY? There are charities that would make good use of those clothes. I know it is not you but company policy - just astounding!

    Great thread, very funny.

On the other side of the coin, though: I live a hour's drive (round trip) from our nearest supermarket and we regularly find foods that are off, veg that's slimey inside when you cut it open, etc etc and with the item being worth £1 or so, it'd cost me more in petrol to take it back so it goes in the bin. Just this week I've had 2 bad onions in a pack of three, a lettuce that was slimey inside and half a bag of black potatoes.

So, I'd be one of those "old ladies" who turns up with half-eaten "off" stuff if I lived nearer. There are probably loads of people who don't return goods for this same reason, so it probably balances out in the end.

Sorry to get a bit OT, but it's annoying to get so much bad food and on the very rare occasion's when I can take it back, I get dirty looks from the staff.

I work in an office and love it when I get calls from customers thinking they have got through to HSBC, Post Office to name a few. The fact I answer the phone, saying the company I work for doesn't give it away there and then is amazing but then they ask me what number they should be calling after gets me - I work for an Investment Company, not 118!!!

  • I can't believe that Primark cut up the clothes when they are returned!!

That is an absolute disgrace! its also an insult to the 'children' who likely made the clothes, who probably can't afford them themselves.
