So the customer service manager sent me off to deliver a replacement, something I had done for other customers with similar complaints in the past. I get to the customers house knock on the door to have this middle aged woman complain about this chicken and hand me the offending item back in a Tesco carrier bag and yes it was chicken from Tesco.
You should have seen the look on the customer service managers face when I handed over the Tesco meat.
I had a customer bring back half eaten chickens and beef joints saying that it tasted funny!! It happened three times when i point blank refused to refund. I dont miss customer services at all!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

I used to work dealing with complaints in a bakery.
Was always being blamed for personally having poisoned people's grandchildren because they had found mould on their loaf of bread, usually when it was well past the sell by date.
I was also responsible for lots of husbands not being able to take sandwiches for work because last two slices from an out of date loaf had gone mouldy.
Was funny how often I was phoned with these two stories.0 -

I also have a girlfriend who bought a pricing gun from Morplan
So she could wear things then re tag them and return them as new
She said it was the best £18 she ever spent
Being in retail management I was less than impressed myself :-{ we had many a row over it"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

My OH's shop (an indy store) has a name similer to a well known chain that sells pretty much the same things. Christmas can be a nightmare as people see the chain stores tv adverts and then demand we match the prices we advertised. OH normally walks them outside and asks them to read the shop name off the sign when they get to irate. I just smile sweetly and say, "I'm afraid your in the wrong place, can I offer you directions".
We also have people come in asking for refunds on the above mentioned stores items. Normally along the lines of....
C; I brought this item and it doesnt work.
Us; I'm sorry to hear that do you have the recipt with you?
C; Yes , (Hands it over and we see other chain stores logo/name)
Us; I'm sorry but we are not the store that sold it to you, you brought its from "shop" in "local town"
C; I know but I don't want to go all that way for "piddly amount"
Us; Well I'm afraid we are (our shop name) not (chain store) and we can't be responsable for their products.
Some people still don't get it though!!!Happily married mama of 50 -
I once took a call in my office from a guy who had a complaint about a company with a similar name in Reading (we were in central London).
I explained as politely as possible that he was talking about a different company, that we only had the one office, and that there was no company in Reading with which we were associated in any way. He simply would not have it, and insisted that I deal with his complaint. I just hung up on him in the end, and asked the telephonist to do the same if he called back.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I don't go to Argos very often but they were very good a couple of years ago when I asked if I could return two items.
I had bought a kettle and a toaster for a great aunt for her christmas present and she did actually die the first week of January before she had even opened the boxes.
Since they had cost almost £100,I did'nt want to throw them out.
I went back and asked if I could have an exchange and explained my reasons, they said that since it was over two months since I'd bought them they could'nt give me a refund (which I was'nt expecting anyway)but gave me a credit note for the full amount.
I was more than pleased and thought it was very good of them as they had no obligation to do so.0 -

My OH's shop changed hands a few years ago (not a takeover, original company still exists, they simply wanted to offload a few shops and a rival took over the leases). Even now, years later, they get people trying to return items purchased from the previous company.
"But it's the same shop!"
"Yes, but it's a different company."
"Well you were here then!"
"Yes, but I work for a different company now."
"Well it looks the same"
"No, it was called XYZ Limited before, now it's ABC Limited. XYZ Limited still has a branch in ****** (nearby town), you should take it back there."

We sold an elictronic item online and the customer contacted us after a week saying thay had used the item for a week and it didn't suit their needs and they were sending it back under the DSR. I pointed out that it needed to be returned unused in its original packaging etc.
About 2 weeks later they then contacted me and said the item was now faulty. I said no problem please send it back and I will send it off the manufacturers authorised repairer.
The customer had submerged the item in water and killed it. They emailed us for about 4 months after threatening trading standards et al.0 -
