I did take it on a test drive and it was fine but stupidly only drove it about 3 miles. The problem only starts on the car when its done about 10 15 miles.when the car has to stop when its not moving but the engine is on its revving really high as though you have your foot on the accelerator pressing it up and down but i dont.
It may be fixed now but i really feel like i dont want the car..
Thanks for your help guys looks like im just going to have to pick it up and hope for the best

  • Hello!

I just saw your thread about the car being a Ford KA, I had this problem on my 1999 V reg KA, I had bought the car brand new and this problem first started 2 and a half years in, after about 25k.

At the time, it was a £280 fix but Ford covered it under their warranty.

Did the car come with any sort of warranty, most of the dealers I looked at locally whilst buying a new car recently offered between 30 days and 3 month warranties.

In hindsight, you should've takent the car out for longer and done your homework on buying a car, but that isn't going to help now, so I feel your best shot is to allow them to look at the car, advise on what is wrong and allow them to put it right.

If you are unsatisfied, maybe you could approach trading standards but you have to decide whether you don't like a car because it has a fault, the car itself is faulty or you simply have changed your mind.

There isn't anything wrong in changing your mind, I bought a Punto after I had the KA, I liked it on the test drive but after 3 weeks I hated it and sold it on shortly afterwards.

Possibly, you'll get less for trading it in than you bought it for, so you might want to sell it privately but I don't think the seller has any obligation to refund you or exchange the car, I may be wrong though....

Best of luck with it all, hope you manage to get it sorted out
