Hi can anyone help please,I bought a used car from a well known garage part ex my old car for £500 and paid £3000 cash 20 mins after picking it up it started to go wrong it started revving away on its own a sounded really bad,When i rang the dealership and said i didn't want the car and wanted my money back or even exchange for another car for the same value they say that point blank cant be done they are offering to fix it i do have warranty on it but i just don't want the car ive lost all confidence in it,Do i have any rights to get a refund or a exchange??

Let them have a look at it first, it may be something simple.0

Its unlikely that you can get a refund as your not returning it with the same amount of mileage on, so they can argue that its your fault, but I would allow the servicing team to look at it, because if they find something thats not your fault, then you have an argument that they sold you faulty goods.0

They have rang a said its fixed and was a simple fault but they going to say that,I took it first to my local garage that i have dealt with for years and they advised me that the fault was well known on them cars and can be quite annoying as its quite difficult to fix and when ive looked on the Internet there is quite a few people saying they have the same problem they get the car fixed and it keeps coming back months later, with the car having this problem so soon after buying it i just feel like ive lost all confidence in it and i do alot of miles and want to feel like ive got a reliable safe car and i don't with this one now.0

Thanks for your replies, the car has 15 extra miles on from when they sold it to me,do you think that still stands in there favor?i only just drove it away from the garage when it started going wrong.0

I honestly arnt sure, depreciation and all that I dont know how it works, but anything you signed I would read carefully. Have you spoke to the garage?0

What was the fault?
Tbh if its a simple known fault then I dont think you have much chance.0 -
I only realised that model of car had this problem after i bought it,I looked the problem up on the Internet when it went wrong,I have spoke to the garage they just saying its fixed come and pick it up,My worry is i only have 3 months warranty on the car and i worried that the problem might keep coming back just my look just when the warranty runs out,They assure me that there experts have looked at it and it shouldn't come back and if i want to cover my self buy extra warranty.0
