You need to visit Specsavers urgently, I gave that advice in my first post on this thread.:(
As in; " You could list it on eBay for spare or repair without an MOT. "
Which was I believe constructive and helpful.
Indeed it was so i must stand corrected it was more the first snidey little comment which i saw as being a blatant attempt at insulting and belittling the OP that i was referring and took exception to.You need to visit Specsavers urgently
oh and look there goes the insults again grow up for fu*ks sake0 -
The MOT test = A licence to print money for some garages.;)Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.0

Ring any bells?
( Quote from Sky TV thread )
" if i asked them i know this is moneysavingexpert but geez talk about wanting something for nothing if you can afford the subscriptions on that lot you can afford to pay for the new box etc. "

the mot has been coming all year did you really expect a p reg car with neglected servicing to pass the mot without needing some repairs? £200 is reasonabe for that if the mot is included, £50 standard mot fee, £5 for a bulb fitted £45 for flexis, clips perhaps new bleed nipples on a car that age and brake fluid. £100 for labour, bearing in mind a 14 year old banger will have rusty seized fittings and bleeding the brakes is a risky process wit 14 year old master cylinder seals. your not being hard done to so if you cant afford to drive a car with working brakes get a bus pass.0

OP had car serviced twice in the year and then winter checked.
In an MOT they put it up on ramps and deliberately look for faults esp around the brakes. OP did not actually expect no bills for the MOT and the initial question did not indicate that.
So to stick to the original question...
£200 is reasonable if you have made your mind up that a replacement car is not in the budget this year.0 -

The Op has already stated that he's been maintaining his car. I drive exactly the same thing and mine is categorically not a banger. She's rust free, nothing is seized, and bleeding the breaks is a doddle.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
I work at a garage and £200 seems too much for 2 brake hoses and a bulb.
Find a new garage.Google gives you answers use it.........0 -

I didn't say it did.
Taken in context, you'll see I was defending the usual reliability and robustness of that particular make & model of car. However, given that the op spent £300 getting it through it's last MOT, has had it serviced & checked through the year and has another £200 bill this time- I'd be thinking perhaps that it hadn't been maintained by its previous owner, and may be a lemon.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
