I hope you have had a nice relaxing dinner and are able to enjoy the peace of this warm Sunday evening. Not many more to go before you are cradling your gorgeous little one and enjoying the rest of the summer evenings together!

My third and fourth babies were born at home, around this time of year, and the memories of those births are among my most precious!

My husband would put on a little tea party for the midwives, while they finished writing up their notes after the births. Lots of hot toast and chocolate biscuits and a very jolly atmosphere in the bedroom!

For baby number 3, a student midwife came to observe. It was early in her training and the very first time she had seen a baby being born. She was walking on air afterwards - and she hadn't had the hormonal rush that I'd had!

Whatever happens on the day, you are obviously listening to your body and your baby: you will make the right decisions as you bring your baby's little boat into shore!
"By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-1527

Bump (no pun intended! But we want Jo to be able to find the thread again when she comes back, don't we! Let's hope she's having, or had, her little one by now.)

I was watching a baby prog on Discovery today where the midwife recommended taking primrose oil orally to help induce labour. They also said that one could be ahem ....inserted to help ripen the cervix. Better than pig semen anyway :rotfl:

I've never heard this before but have found a few details on this website about a third of the way down the page under Ripening The Cervix. There's a bit more about it on this website as well.

Good luck with baby, I'm so broody but my hubby says NO!!

    Your welcome. ;)
I keep getting told how stressed he is! Luckily after yesterday's false alarm (at 42 and a half weeks!!!) he decided to start his leave as it's pretty inevitable that something is going to happen one way or another in the next week and he has got 3 weeks off so he's quite pleased about that ;)

I showed him your message and he was well chuffed to have a guy on his side!!!
Jo_R, all you have to do is go into hospital and have the baby. :A That poor man will have to pace the corridors for hours, deprived of proper meals. Then after the baby is born he has the stress of organising the ritual of wetting the baby's head. I could go on, but I don't want you to start worrying about him!
  • Ive been reading this thread everyday and its brought back many memories for me.
Im still awake with my Dd as you can see by the time but ive just go ths feeling that JO jr has arrived.
My fingers are crossed now all weve got to do is wait and see
    Good luck Jo
