my first fundal height measurement was while i was in hospital overnight on a drip (i had a nasty tummy bug, led to water infection which can lead to prem labour, i know lots of babies on oxygen because mum had a water infection and gave birth too early - so i'm not against all medical interventions lol!). anyway, before they got the tape measure out they told me i was too small just by using their hands. the midwives who were still training weren't as skilled as the older ones but i suppose they'll pick it up along the way. they were all desperate to practise everything so i had all the trainees coming to measure my belly lol! when using the tape measure the results varied a lot.

scan showed my baby was smaller than he should be, he was predicted to weigh between 5 and 6 lbs at birth, but i think some babies are that small anyway without there being a problem.

jo have you had your baby yet? :D

Have been following your threads on dfw jo and checking every time I log on whether you've had your baby yet!!

I hope it goes very well whenever it happens and that it is free from pressure and stress.

    Best of luck

    Kath :D

Or even better - lying in bed smiling at her newborn baby! :T

Good luck, Jo. Well done for holding your own against medical professionals. You must be a really strong individual.

I have been following the thread with great interest as I would like to have a home birth if I have another baby. Hope everything has already gone smoothly and you're just basking in babyness. ;)

I think the name of the thread will soon have to be changed to '43 week pregnancy' LOL! Am awaiting events or however you want to phrase it... Just been making dinner and the cheapo bottle of wine in the door of the fridge with which I want to make a little white wine spritzer when baby arrives - got the bottle in preparation at the end of May!!!

Thankyou everyone for asking - if anyone wants to have a drink for me whilst I'm waiting then feel free!

  • Have a drink yourself! Nice glass of wine, put your feet up and watch the sunset, eat some chocolate, have a smooch with DH - the oxytocin will be flowing in no time!
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

As crispy ambulance says, put your feet up and have a drink! Just gotta keep waiting I guess. We'll all be checking back regularly, I can guarantee :)

wow Jo_r just been reading this and having a drink for you! I'm trying to find inspiration for a naming day speech I'm giving for my best friends little girl, who is 6 months today. I dont have any children myself and reading this has made me appreciate just how challenging bringing new life into this world can be ! good luck, I cant wait to hear your news.
