Vodafone ... Out of Ideas

Any advice please?

Renewed Vodafone contract in March 2 months prior to expiry of original.

All going well - then phone cut off in May (same date as original contract would have expired). Bill for just under £600 arrived the DAY they tried to take money out of account (£30 charge). I was told by Vodafone that this was a mistake their end due to new computer software BUT that the easiest resolution was to let them take £600 and then reclaim from my bank under the direct debit guarantee. Vodafone tried to again take the £600 the next day (another £30 charge). I went to the bank the same day who were not happy with Vodafone's advice and advised me to cancel direct debit to avoid further charges.

Endless telephone calls and letters ensued - never the courtesy of a written response. Suddenly in September (yes September) phone was reconnected with a partial credit. One week later phone again disconnected. This time I went to the Vodafone shop - someone had mistakenly reversed the credits so again I had a bill for nearly £600. Partial credits reinstated but I was still not happy with a bill of nearly £300. (contract was £30 per month so I could not reconcile the figures and neither could customer services).

I paid £160 but Vodafone still refused to reconcile figures - plus I was getting charged for all the things I did not want and did not have at beginning (ie insurance, sky tv etc etc).

Because I refused to pay any more until I had some reconcilation they have now cut off phone again (end November) and now I have a bill for £350 and a threat of Court action.

This phone has been disconnected more than connected - no one at Vodafone will assist or take responsibility or answer letters and I am now getting letters threatening action.

Help I am getting so stressed - why should I be bullied into paying this?

many people are too scared of going to court..
take your day of and go there with as much paper work as you can.. Im sure the judge will stuff them up and as he does, next day fill a form for full damages to claim

i would let vodafone to take the money, and then call the bsank straight away telling them my money is been taken without my consent.. the bank will be involved too and kick their backside.. have done it twice with 3 network and oh i love it when hsbc goes full throtle at them
    dont let yourself get bullied
  • I did think about that but Nationwide told me that under the direct debit guarantee it would take about 3 months. I dont really have that sort of money.

This is really getting me down (along with another issue about a missing bank account) and I am beginning to feel worn down with it all.

    Thank you for replying

Register on the vodafone eforum and post your issue there http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?act=idx

The vodafone lot tend to pick up customer issues quicker there - cant say they will resolve it but at least you get them calling you to fix the problem.

Saying that the vodafone reps on this forum might see the post above as well ... so keep an eye on both forums.

Just be careful before accepting this advice. Read other posts. Long before they take you to court, they will blacken your credit record and appoint debt collectors.

You could take the initiative and take a claim out against then via MCOL for loss of service, time spent chasing this error etc. But have you written to their Chief Exec?

Come on, Vodafone rep, sort this one out!

Thank you so much - it is sooo dispiriting and I am now getting worried about getting bad credit record.

I have sent recorded delivery letters to the complaints section but I may well try the Chief Exec.

Even the manager of the Vodafone store could not understand the bill!

I was with T Mobile for 10 years before this - never a problem - direct debit went through fine every month - switched to Vodafone and am faced with this nightmare.

I dont think I am out of order to request a credit for all the months it has been disconnected AND my £60 back in charges?

    Thanks again x
