Is it any wonder. Winter Fuel Payment????

Is it any wonder that there are so many people out there that are not receiving the benefits that they are entilted to ,,, when the people who work in the relevant government benefit offices dont even know themsleves.......!!!!!!!!!!..
I am registered unemployed, but because I was self employed I am not entilted to any JobSeekers allowance but claim housing benefit, council tax reduction and my wife receives tax credits.
I was 60 in April 2009. I filled in my application for Winter Fuel Allowance and was told OK you'll get it before Christmas.
Coming up to Christmas I phoned the office and they told me that because I was unemployed that the JSA office paid it.
I asked at JSA,,,, answer "nope, dont know anything about it"
Phoned WFP people,,, answer,,,, "JSA office pay it"
Phoned JSA again,,,, oh yes,, we pay it automatically,,, but as its so close to Christmas, wait and see if you get it before the new year,, if not call us again"
New Year. No payment. Called JSA,,,,, seemed confused,,, went and consulted with somebody else,,, answer.... oh, we will call you back, Never did,
Next day later called again and they said they would call me back,,, they did, and told me "it could take up to the end of January to get paid"
It is now the end of January,, no payment.. Called JSA,,,,, "You have the wrong office,, this is the JSA payments office,, you need the Winter Fuel Office."
Put my case again,,, he went away,, came back and said "we will call you back within 3 hours" They didnt.
Is it me or have others in a similar situation been treated in this way?

MOVING THREADS TO DT/ARMS
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move discussions from the MoneySaving boards if they’re not related to MoneySaving to help everyone find the MoneySaving tips and discussion quicker (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to Discussion Time/The Arms. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
considering that this this thread was concerning benefits and the entitlement to thereof,, I can see no reason why it has been moved here. It was not supposed to be a discussion, therefore
Benefits and Tax Credits seemed the most logiical place to enter this subject.
Latest news.........
Dont bother to read any further.
Somebody took offence and has locked the thread so you cant post any infomation that may be of use to me or anybody else.
Nothing like a bit of power is there!!!!!!

I've been questioning the cold weather payments system recently. Several of my gardener friends have outside thermometers in their gardens. They've all recorded temps of below 0 in the same area of South Yorkshire for seven consecutive days or more over two seperate periods, which is when the cold weather should kick in. It didn't.
When I enquired of a CAB friend why this was, she couldn't say. But she did tell me that the system is strange. For instance, the temperatures for Sheffield are (or were the last time she enquired) actually recorded in Leeds. Not taken in Sheffield and collated in Leeds, but recorded in - or from - Leeds.
A couple of my elderly friends who should recieve the CWP's haven't yet got anything, yet have been struggling - like most - to stay warm.
It's a strange beast IMO.The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
With respect, thats Cold Weather Payment. Different thing. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30
