Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this so ignore me if they have!
There is a free 5 pound milkman delivery on the freebies thread on here, through the daily mail website. You can buy all sorts of stuff not just milk.
Have just popped my order in for 5 pints of milk 1 pint of fresh orange juice and 6 eggs total 4.98 so free!Grocery challenge Jan 270.27/200:eek:
Total debt 04/01/2011 £2671.23:eek:0 -
Does anyone know anywhere doing a good kellogg's cereal or cereal bar offer? I have 6 pounds of vouchers to use.Grocery challenge Jan 270.27/200:eek:

NSD fo me today. Went to M&S as I have some vouchers but nothing jumped out at me, so just spent the £4 voucher that was going out of date.
So will make 4 x meals with the chicken steaks (prcessed but good for a quick meal) and save the rest of the vouchers for when they are selling something I want to buy.0 -
Well have done the weekly shop-so much for not spending much - spent £31.46 .
Did do the promised trip to the Asian shop and picked up 6 X 100g packs of various spices I needed for £2.60 much cheaper than buying the wee jars in the supermarket and will last a while.
Could have bought loads more as there was lots of interesting stuff like Chappati flour and cous cous but restrained myself for another time :T
Off to update signature and will declare for the month later.0 -
So much for not needing much today - got some milk, sausages, bread and veg and have spent £12.36.
I have done some cooking this afternoon and made some celery soup out of some old celery and a mushroom pie mix to freeze out of some old mushrooms. I've got meals for the week for me and OH - just got to keep the kids costs down!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Had a couple of small shops which have taken me over my budget for the month
but only by £15 which is I don't think is bad for the first time and is much less than I would spent before. We are moving in 4 weeks which is going to make March hard as I will have to resist stocking up on bargains and with packing kitchen bits up it will be difficult for a few days to cook - which is bad for my budget & my diet

Declaring at £187.02 (yearly) very pleased with that as working on budget of £120 a month so well under so far.
Still loads in freezer so hopefully next month will be as good.0 -
Okay so I still have 7 days to go and I am already overbudget. Not feeling too down hearted though, last month we spent £411 which is £13.25 per day. If we spend £296 this month, that will be £10.60 per day, a 20% improvement.
I can see a few areas were we could easily make some cuts, and I did stock up on cat food at the beginning of the month so all in all I'm pretty pleased. If we could make March £260, that would be another 20% improvement. :j
I'll post my final spends in a week.
Well done to everybody doing so well.:ADebt £26k 18/10/140 -
I've been faffing around in the index and updating the Complete Cooking Collection -don't faint people
and as always, I'm finding lots of interesting stuff; one of my favourite collections is Mr Badexamples Cooking Index - threads which, apart from being very funny, are also full of useful tips and serious cooking advice, and not just 'for blokes'; I've put a link on the front page recipe list - enjoy
you may wish to have tissues and tena handy, Rikki didnt put the warning triangle there for nothing :rotfl:
Thanks Rosie. I especially love the post on the Cauliflower Cheese thread regarding quantities for cooking that are acceptable for men - handful, loose handful, splosh, bung loads on etc :rotfl:

Well shopping yesterday and I have gone over for the month...tis hubby he pursuades me to get extras etc so finger back on pulse for March we also have visitors and going away next weekend for week so extras bought.but still hoping to be on target for year......
when an offer on I will take advantage as silly to miss just because of GC funds for that month.
I also like trying new recipes and sometimes ingredients not a stock item.
Lidl yesterday 9.59 tons fruit and veg
at good prices have enough red onions for month.
Morrisons 38.00...some good deals on at the moment
tesco 6.00 they had Andrex 4 pack quilted by 2 for 3.50 so best deal I had seen although charmin was reduced for an 18 pack...who are changing name to ...cush...something I forgot....hehehe
I normally but Tilda basmati rice at 3.50 for 500gms which is expensive but the lowest cals per rice so we went to indian shop and got 5kg of Pakistani Basmati rice for 7.49 will see how long it last has a 2 year shelf life and can then see how much it cost for year etc and if it is as nice as owner stated but cals not as low:mad:
Thinking to try items we use a lot at wholesellers etc.
I am confused how a basic such as rice can have a different calorie content because of the name of the packager?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
