Hi Spiggle, welcome to the GC :hello:
As others have said, its up to you what to include in your budget. How about if you include the dry cat food, but keep it as a separate subtotal; as already suggested you could increase your budget for the month's when you know that spend is due.;)
we're lucky to have a really good butcher in the village so I buy all my meat from him; I've never bought supermarket meat since I moved back to the village.
Absolutely :T
another NSD for me, I've been steaming and mashing the last potatoes from the farm sack; I've put ice cream scoops-full onto greased baking trays, and flattened each scoop with a wooden spatula and put the trays in the freezer overnight - I now have a big plastic bag of mashed potato 'discs'
Hi,
I also use a local buthcer we have several really good ones, better meat I find and cheaper.
I also freeze mash and also find it useful for popping into soups or casseroles if they need thickening up.
Unfortuanatly I am now 34.60 over budget, maybe my challenge this month was over optimistic!!!:jBrodie 1/ july 300/330.62:oAugust300/322.49:o

Once again I have not been posting much but have still been doing my challenge!! My Feb challenge is now over (problem with being paid 4 weekly) and my next challenge is from 19th Feb until 18th March so not really sure what to do. Might just do this one myself and then make the next official one the March one as it will run from 19th March until 15th April - thought please?????
Anyways back to the point. I would like to declare £100.23 for my Feb challengeEmma
Aug GC - £88.17/£130

Morning all
Another snowy day here-supposed to be Midlands-we are miles away in Mid-Wales,doh
Anyway snow yesterday, about 1'',soon went and it was a lovely sunny day so managed to dry 3 loads of washing outside.
I had been toying with the idea of buying a TD,but have managed without one for nearly 39 years (& 3 children) so seems a bit stupid now,not very OS/GC (or any other anacronym )with the price of utilities.
My hip still feels great after inj last Friday:j-well nearly but trying to take it a bit easy.
So I vaccumed the whole house yesterday, cleaned toilet ,bathroom, nearly sorted clothes heap and made lemon curd plus changed beds hence all the washing.
Found odd bits of toiletries to be used before any more bought
Did spend £16() on meat-2 lamb shanks(already SC ready for freezer)big lump of brisket(SC for lunch today with york puds)sausages and streaky bacon. Not my most cost effective butcher buy, great local butcher with fantastic quality of local meat-yummy award winning sausages.
Balanced out with rubber chicken I hacked up t'other day-tomyum soup was fantastic yesterday(half of the chick stock & carcass scrapings)
We are still under budget, which is a goodie. Our GC goes from 1st to last of month despite the fact that I get paid on last Monday of month, but I get less confused that way-poor soul
Ooh sun coming out.... perhaps pesky white stuff will now go
Have a good day all of you

I've been busy the last couple of weeks - I have builders in turning a bedroom into a bathroom. They shoudl be here for another week doing that...and then they start turning the old bathroom into a shower room! More muck and dust.
I have £37.52 to declare for last week, andthis weeks shopping was £35.79, so under budget (just) so far.0 -
Had my family pop in for lunch yesterday without much warning and instead of going straight to the shops made something with what i already had.
No one complained and was actually less stressful than i thought.

Snowing here as well, thick and fast, sky is full of it.
When I got up at 7.30 we had a light dusting and frozen ground but now have approx 2 -3 inches.
My grocery challenge is doing ok, I do an annual budget which gives me some leeway to allow for stocking up on things if on good offers. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
I feel left out - i have no snow!!!
I was lying in bed this morning thinking about the grocery challenge (as you do!), and I realised that one of my biggest targets to myself this month was to sort out the NSDs. However, I have forgotten to add on my NSDs for this week, which means that I think the addiction is getting under control!!
I've had bf staying this week - he took a week off to coincide with my half term (bless!), and I've been busy doing things with him and the children, therefore not thought about the shops so much. I think I have another four to add, with 2 days left of my month. I never thought i would get anywhere near my target of 16, and i've got to it without realising! I'm so proud of myself!!:j:j:j
Have a good day all,
