    Good morning everyone,

It's snowing like mad here, so a NSD again hopefully. Will spend the day cleaning and going through accounts, DH is over the moon that for the first time in years(ever actually) I have £108.00 LEFT!!:j:j in my account. So I have transferred that amount to our savings, so even though I have overspent on GC This month I feel happy. Have loads of stuff in freezer so hopefully wont need to buy much till middle of week. Get paid tomorrow but will try not to go into this for a few days. DS1 birthday on Wednesday so will be going out for a meal next weekend. Might suggest I will cook, we will see . Anyway off now to do some cleaning. Have fun in the snow everyone!!:D

Morning all. No snow here in central Scotland, lovely sunny day but very cold and frosty.

Not done the weekly shop yet, will do later. Am on a bit of a curry kick at the moment (going to try Curry Queen's recipes I found last night :T) and running out of spices so want to go to some Asian shops fairly near here and bulk buy for a change.

Not needing anything in the way of meat as freezer full of HM meals - told OH not to let me buy any no matter how good the price ;) so should only spend a few pounds - famous last words eh??

Running low on stock pile of loo rolls though but haven't seen any good deals, might just go to F*rmfoods and get theirs which are OK.

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone :D
  • Nearly £46 over budget, and the month doesn't end til Friday:mad:

Been a lot of stuff going on here that has made me take my eye off the ball this month but now that its getting sorted, I will be really paying attention next month! Should only have bread and milk to get this week though :o

Did find a little chinese supermarket yesterday in the next town.... didn't have any money on me but will be investigating next month :D

  • Oh dear I'm over bugdet as well...£120.98/£115. My problem has been that I've been lazy and haven't been taking a packed lunch to work. Last week I had brought cup-a-soup and bread rolls for lunch, but I just didn't fancy it. Gone back to having ham sandwiches this week, so hopefully I will fare better :) Just been to the supermarket this morning and spent £20.01 on my weekly shopping, and now I have lots of yummy fruit and veg to see me through next week.

Morning All, sunnyish and cold here on south Wales coast, I might get a bit of gardening in later.

Thanks for your welcome and messages yesterday, they give me a sense of 'I can do this'. I've just bared my soul on the no toiletries thread to so hopefully I cand eal with that particular habit.

I have a question though, what are 'whoopsied' products please?

    Thanks again,

Spiggle, whoopsied products are 'reduced to clear', usually yellow-stickered items; some good bargains to be had if you can judge the time right for your local supermarket ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Righto, I've caught up with the thread now. The building work is playing havoc with my OS life! Today I've sat down and made a meal plan for next week. I always used to meal plan when my dh was home from sea, but since he died, I've been in eating chaos really. I joined slimming world the week before last though, so I need to sort myself out. I lost 4lbs when I was weighed this week by the way.

There's no danger of running out of food just yet, although I do need to do some batch cooking for ds. I'd say he was a fussy eater, but he eats quite healthily, he just doesn't have much of a "range" IYKWIM, so I like to keep meals in the freezer that I can defrost on demand when he fancies them. It's usually spag bol, lamb stew and chicken dinner. I have plenty of chicken, but I think we've run out of the other two.

I bought a huge bag of toilet rolls from Home and Bargain the other week for £2.99. It's fine, so I think we'll be using that in future. I have one last payday on my normal hours at the end of Feb, and after that I have reduced my hours to make childcare easier now I'm on my own with ds. Being careful with the food spending and budgeting has meant I was able to do that with a clear conscience, knowing I can manage on the money that we have and we won't starve.

For your company, your encouragement, your recipes and ideas, I thank you all!

Thanks rosie for explaining that. :TI have to be a bit careful with things like that as its one of the areas that OH has been spending money unnecessarily. He really is seduced by high end stuff that will only feed one and he wouldn't consider spending money on if it weren't reduced! Normally he brings it home so chuffed with the saving that it seems mean of me (but essential) to point out how much he has spent on it for so little value.:(
