Workout what boiler you want/need, then buy it yourself from walkers heating (online) then you can work out roughly how much he's charging you for labour, combi's generally are only good for small houses and ideal for flats. Pay him in cash and keep the vat lol
A correctly specified and properly fitted combi is good for a substantial four bedroom house.
If you buy the boiler yourself, don't forget to add a flue, programmable thermostat, any copper and fittings, condensate run, inhibitor, magnaclean and any TRV's that may be required to confirm to Part L of building regs.
If you want a leigitimate installation, with Building Regulations Compliance Certificate and Gas Safety Certificate and the Bench Mark log completing and the boiler commissioning in accordance to the manufacturer's specification in order to validate the warranty, then you will need a Gas Safe registered engineer who is likely VAT registered and therefore pay the relevant VAT.
If you want to be a penny pinching cost cutting risk taking eejit, then take danny kiss kiss's advice and buy cheap.
Remember the motto:
Fit it right, fit it once, buy cheap and buy twice.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
The Lord Giveth and the Government Taketh Away.
I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
I said combi's are GENERALLY good for small houses, flats, I didn't rule them out, I said "Work out what boiler you want/need". The remark I made about VAT was just a cheeky remark!! Lastly why I should not tell this person to work out how much he will be paying in labour cost's, some plumbers will have you paying £600 a day labour maybe more. I see why you call yourself inmypocketnottheirs lol KISS KISS0
