Replacement Boiler quote

Yes, it's another boiler quote.

This guy's been maintaining my old boiler for about 10 years now and seems reliable and fair TBH

Not sure I should even query his quote-but I am on MSE!

So:
Remove existing gas combi and replace in same position with 30Kw Glow Worm High Efficiency gas condensing

Connect to existing supplies

Clean, power flush + add inhibitor

Fit radio controlled programmable room thermostat

Test and commission.

£1950 + VAT (341.25) Total £2291.25

  • Whereabouts are you?

Best practice would include fitting a Magnaclean or Boiler Buddy? Is this included?

About right, get them to fit a Magnaclean in the price and I'd say a good deal.

It really is advisable to fit one, as if there is any damage to the boiler, even under warranty, if caused by magnetic sludge it won't be covered.

Have you got thermostatic radiator valves fitted, at least on the first floor? This should be done to confirm to Part L of Building Regulations. If not and you can get this done as part of the price, then even better.

Thats why the install should include a flush first otherwise there won't be a manufacturers warranty. A magnaclean or boiler buddy on its own will still allow the carp to circulate is not a solution to this issue but is an excellent optional extra. Note that the price does include a flush.

Hence the reason for recommending Magnaclean, as the flush is included in the price. If it wasn't then I would have suggested it.

If at the very least, a chemical flush should be done prior to commissioning. If this isn't done, then the manufacturer's warranty would be invalidated.

4 bed detached and you want a combi? Maybe you should consider a HE system boiler plus hot water storage vessel??
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Well you could have all the benefits of a high efficiency condensing boiler but one which has a lower heat input and which feeds a pressurised hot water storage vessel,so ensuring a plentiful, higher pressure/flow water supply throughout the home. In addition, the storage vessel would have an immersion heater so that you had backup should your boiler/gas supply fail.
