stupid question but will the Humax model 9150 have the OTA upgrade today as well?

The 9150 update was transmitted last week. If you got it, you should be in no doubt. If you want to check, go to
    Menu
    System
    Status
and check the entry for Software Version, which should be HPTTF 1.00.18

You are 5 releases behind, so you really do need to update. Ensure the box is left in standby during the next OTA broadcast.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Although I am not 100% sure I thought that Freeview boxes needed to be left on one of the BBC multiplex channels, eg BBC1, rather than being left in standby.

If you missed the broadcast software update, it is possible to download the software from the Humax website, and then upload it to the receiver from your PC.

    This page

    http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/support/downloadcenter_model.aspx?category_seq=64

has links to the software module and to the utility which will manage the upload. You will need a serial port 'null modem' cable, which you can make or buy.

It's a bit of a fiddle the first time round, but once you've done it I hope you'll agree that it's not really a difficult or complicated procedure.
