DVD Rom drive on laptop playing up please help

Nero 7.9 and no can not do a copy from it, also just tried using roxio to burn and no problems, but still no luck in getting it to read the disk once burnt0 -

yep and still the same problem, does the laser lose weakness for any reason?? (and yes I have cleaned the lens)0 -
The truly weird thing to my mind is that you can read dvds you've burned on this machine on other machines but not the one you burned them on. What happens if you tell the burning program to verify what you've burned (I'm guessing it has to fail).
You say you can read commercial dvds - what about dvds burned on other machine's burners? Have you tried other blank dvd brands and both -R and +R variants.0 -

CD and DVd writers use 2 lasers ...one to read, and a more powerful one to burn data onto the disc. Your problem would suggest that the "Write" laser is working fine , so you can burn data onto a disc (and others can read it) but your "Read" laser isn't.
....a new drive is needed0
