We have always had a Tv licence therefore we have never had a visit from them, they have a database where they know who has one and who does not.

I also have never seen the so called detector vans, are they real or just scaremongering.

Also having recently just purchased a 42" lcd from Argos we were asked for our postcode and door number that was it,lie if you like evade the licence if you like, however when you do get caught and you will most probably will, dont be like others who come on here after being caught driving whilst using the mobile or having worn tyres and do nothing but moan about how hard done by they are.

If you choose to evade the fee,be prepared to pay up in court.

If you are struggling to scrape together £140 a year, you need to seriously re-evaluate whether a new TV is a sensible idea.

Promoting anything on this site that is illegal is surely against the site rules.:(
  • So you can afford a new tv but not licence, but you expect others who dont break the law to provide you with free programs

If money is that tight why not get a free crt that are being thrown away

Well failing that run the risk of getting caught

Do you have a tv licence at mo?

If i remember correctly, when i bought my first TV, few years back i automatically got a letter from TV licensing saying Comet has advised TV Licensing that i purchased a new TV. I had already applied for a licence so didnt have a problem.

Not sure but it appears to me that some retailers may pass on (or required to pass on) details to TV licensing...

Would anyone be able to help..... I'm looking for a tv for my bedroom, around 22"- 26", all I know is when I'm looking at a clear screen. This is not my area of expertise, could anyone recommend places to look or makes and models????

    Thanks

Personally, I hope the OP gives a false name and address, then the TV goes wrong. Try claiming on the warranty then !!!!!!.
