Okay, I'll explain. Sorry if this isn't as exciting as people had hoped!
I've always wanted to be a psychologist, probably criminal. It's just one of those dreams I have always had. I started course A at uni thinking I'd be able to attend, but they moved the course around and now its two hours train ride away from me, and a big walk. It's not possible for me to go. I have completed all the coursework and got a first so far, but the uni are useless at supporting my conditions, and haven't even cross signed by DSA application yet. They are constantly hounding me about when I will attend, and scary meetings, and I'm too scared to check my uni email address most days.

Yesterday I found out about Course B. I can learn it entirely online, and it is just psychology, which is what I always wanted. Course A is a mix of studies, most of which I dislike. Course B can be studied in Spain, and if I apply tonight, they will help me get DSA and all my help done before July, when we go. I'll have a personal tutor to check I am coping, and they researched my conditions so I didn't have to try to explain. They have been amazing. They've even sorted out Student Finance for me, something Uni A still haven't done, meaning I owe money on accommodation due to not being paid and am very scared about.

Thing is, If I am going to leave Uni A, I need to let them know by Monday morning. Thats the last date to enrol for Uni B, and I can't be enrolled at both. Uni B need five days to check over my qualifications and references, but have said I should easily get a place because I have studied at uni level this year. There are unlimited places, as it is online study.

OH..well, he says its up to me. Course B has BPS accreditation, Course A doesn't. Course B is everything I wanted, but Course A is there, and concrete.

If anyone made it through that, thank you :)

EDIT: OH has volunteered me to babysit a friend of his's girlfriend for an hour, so I'd appreciate people's opinions when I get back...sorry for being so much trouble

Edit edit - They changed their mind. Gggrrrrr!

Is anyone on here still doing or going to do Bingo? If so where?
I've got to get myself another revenue stream! Too many of my ebay auctions are selling for 99p!
Won't get anywhere near £1000 at this rate, let alone £10000!!!!!!!

    Wayne,
i'd quite like the idea of a cheap white kids t-shirt with 1 or 2 sheets of transfer paper.
It always seems expensive to buy a full pack of the paer and buying a white t-shirt for such experiments is usually too expensive. so buying a cheap white t-shirt with just 1 or 2 sheets of transfer paper would allow us to have fun without spending loads.
Also something I would consider with our local home ed group is buying a load of cheap white tshirts and some fabric pens. Not done this before as couldn't find cheap enough t-shirts.
Our local children's centre also has done some similar activity and may be open to a supplier of cheap white t-shirts from time to time.
There are loads of childrens centres nationally.
    Jo x.

Thanks, well that imo would be good to sell like a kit. I will have to check prices of transfer paper and fabric pens and see if it would be worth doing that.

Munchki - congrats on the interviews, that's fab news! Hope you get the result you deserve. Maybe check out this for jobs too - there's not an awful lot on there at the moment, but many some transitionary positions. http://www.fife.gov.uk/orgs/index.cfm?fuseaction=home&orgid=60304273-A856-11D6-BF4D0002A5349AC9

Saucy - who is the second degree with? Are they definitely reputable? There's been a few online training providers going bust recently.
    Just £10,852.28p to go...

    :D

    Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
    And then do it.
  • Saucy - Go with course B, your heart isn't in course A anymore and if it's not possible for you to attend you may aswell get some of the scary people off your back & a little bit of sanity!

That woman sounds horrendous, but i guess society's partly to blame for her attitude, she wouldn't be better off working and that's where the main issue lies. Whenever I phone the jobcentre for appointments to help me get a better job all I get is a confused sounding 'but you already have a job'. When my hours went under 16 p/w and I was on income support for a while (about £23 a week with the silly rules around that) the advisor was like 'well this is the services available to help WHEN you want to look for more work' I said I did straight away and she just looked confused too. This is where self employment comes in, no less than 16 hours = no backwards jobcentre. There's always going to be people abusing the system when it's so much easier than working for something. Laziness breeds laziness and those kids are really going to suffer.

EBay went rather well, about £40 after fees and (hopefully) P+P for a bunch of toys that cost be about £46 in the first place because I bought most of it on a 3for2 offer :D

Work tonight, should be quite amusing if nothing else plus I get paid at midnight so might treat myself to curly fries and pink drink from the takeaway after. Will have to pick up a bottle of diet coke there aswell though else I won't get up in the morning :o
  • Yeah its a reputable university, they have just created an online course for people with conditions like mine. Both are good unis, actually, top 20s, but I'm still finding it so hard to do!

  • Sounds like a no-brainer, Saucy, if the second course is properly accredited (I assume you have confirmed with the BPS?). It looks as though you've already decided, but just want reassurance.
