Hi all, have been thinking today how I can make my website better- do any of you who have seen it already ( or want to have a nose- click on my username ) reckon I should somehow expand it to do everyday jewellery? I think it's a good idea but not sure how to go about it. It's a wedding jewellery site and has that in the title but I don't want to have another seperate site. You have all been so helpful with the blog ideas so am picking your collective brains again !!

personally I wouldn't...... I would keep the sites seperate to help with marketing..... you can alway link to your everyday jewellery site....
On second thoughts you could add some not quite so dressy stuff..... going away outfit jewellery (if people do that now???) mother of the bride, groom bits (cufflinks/tie pins) and I would play on the charms..... could you engrave little silver tablets/dogtags with the bride and grooms initals and the date as wedding favours?

I agree with yuki bear that maybe etsy/folsky is a good idea as you can link between the two, blog about the two but you are stll keeping them seperate.....

well. I've had enough for today, my eyes hurts and I need to chill out..

talk to you al in the morning....

Thanks Yukki - yeah I was trying to think of a name that didn't just say 'everyday' that's where I got stuck! Etsy etc is probably the sensible idea but Im safer on my own site!! Would have to pay someone to set up on Etsy ( yes I am really that useless with computers!)

Thanks Yummy :-) I only started with a few tutorials from the Internet and went from there- check out the jewellery tutorials on about.com they are very good.

My sister had this from BB- she isnt amused :(
    Hi

Your account has been disabled and your membership rescinded as you have only played bonus games so these type of accounts are too expensive to maintain.
The company is really only interested in bingo players not bonus players only.

    Patrick

She had only played the bonus games after initially depositing £10 (as I did) and had just won £50- they suddenly de activated her account!
    She emailed back :-
saying that she hadnt acted outside their T7C's but considered that they had -and got this back-

You are no longer a member so please just play elsewhere.

We are not a charity but a decent site for bingo players.

    Patrick Duffy

I have won just under £200 since I joined from a £10 deposit so I am very pleased but I thought it would be useful to post this as it seems that the BB boat is about to sail!
This Patrick is a rude person and has upset my sister (and me!) with his tone. I have advised her to take it further with the Gambling Commision but she doesn't want it to go on- she is totally upset by it! Cant say I blame her!
    lovin' this site!

Thanks Mambury- I did look into cufflinks etc but decided against it in the end due to lots of competition. Going away jewellery is a good idea- think I might go with Lilacs idea and have a page with 'everyday ' jewellery ... The ?????? Collection, ideal for everyday, gifts, honeymoon, mother of bride etc etc?

I spent a couple of hours last night and loads of time today (whilst at work ) and I think I have an information overload on how to set up a blog. I even dreamt about registering a domain, and I don't even know how to do it!

So, could anyone tell me: -
    - should I self host or use external hosting, and how?
    - do I need my own domain name or is that unnecessary Not necessary if you use the free blog hosting.
    - if it's necessary, how do I do it?
    - I've been advised to use Blogspot, Wordpress and Posterous today by different people, would you agree with any of these? I have used both blogger and wordpress. Personally prefer blogger as wordpress don't allow advertising unless you're self hosted.
    - if I decided in the future to sell things related to my blog, can I do that or would I have to set up something different? You can set up a paypal "Buy Now" button for your blog to sell things via a blog as long as your paypal is verified etc.

Sorry for my complete ignorance here - ask me about a telephone system or cat5 cabling and I'm well and truly in my comfort zone, ask me anything web related and I'm lost!!

I think it depends on what you want from your blog and if it's something you'll continue with. A Lot of people stop blogging after a couple of months, so will you continue? If you're not sure don't pay for domain or hosting just yet.
  • BB had stated before that they didn't like this, and I think most people do spend a quid or two of their £10...is your sisters £10 still completely unused?

What they have done isn't right, though, so contact the commission or message them back and ask for your winnings to be paid and account settled. They can't just steal a tenner!!

That said, it isn't a very professionally run site...

If you've never blogged before why not set up a blog with Blogger.com? It's free - no domain name buying or paying for hosting - at least it's a start and you can advertise on it with Adsense (easy as Google now owns Blogger) or any other advertising you can find (just a case of adding the relevant code ). You can also sell stuff from it (using Paypal buttons) or ask for donations!
I've got a couple of blogs with Blogger - having said that - they mainly earn me about 10p a day! - good luck with it though!

No MM you can do it, it's very simple believe me (I haven't used etsy but have used MISI and very easy)
I'll help and Nicki uses Etsy so she can guide you.
