Have you thought of doing classes or running a crop? Theres a lady near us that rents a room at a school and does an all day one on Saturdays.
Have found Auction Alfie now :-) and I've talked myself out of the books :-)

As well as increasing income, I'm trying to reduce expenditure. So I've been taking some ideas from the Money Saving Old Style forum. Started doing meal planning and only buying what we need.
So last night, when I got home hoping that OH had spent the day listing items on ebay and discovered he had "just popped to the shops to get a few bits we needed", I wasn't terribly impressed. Especially when he showed me 2 small bottles of energy drink (he doesn't normally drink energy drinks) and said "it was only 2 for £1 so I thought I might as well".
GRRR!
Sorry, it's not really relevant to the thread but sometimes I wonder why I'm trying so hard to make a few extra pounds for him to just go and spend it! And he's the one with the debt (That's probably why)!
Moan over. Sorry!0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm really trying to keep up with this but I seem to forever be 10 pages behind...
So my total for January is -£30 (I only joined about a week ago). I bought a purse for £20 from Gumtree (I haven't received it so I'm starting to worry a bit) and £10 for petrol for running around picking up lots of freebies.
OH started listings on Ebay and Amazon yesterday and I've just spoken to him and the first book has been sold for about £5 profit. So I'm really chuffed! That's the first bit of profit for us! Yeepee!
An idea that might be useful to others... I picked up about 50 free books last week and then we had a look on Ebay and Amazon to see how much they were going for. So I've ended up with about 30 books which are basically worth nothing. I was thinking I'd try to sell them at a car boot later in the year. Then, yesterday, one of my workmates saw me on this thread (on my lunch break, no rest for me!) and she was like "Oh! MSE! I love it!", so I told her what I was doing and she asked me to bring a list of my leftover books and said she might want to buy some from me for 50p or £1. And then I got what I think is an even better idea... I'm going to ask her for a list of her unwanted books and try to do some book swapping. Only before I decide which of her books I want, I'll go and check on Amazon how much the going rate is and then I can pick the most expensive ones!
I've also offered to do some book swapping to another friend and he said he's up for it, so there might be even a bit more to be made there!
So I'm having a good day!
Hi, I had a bit of trouble understanding your post - you say your friend loves MSE and you want to boookswap with her but only take her most expensive books so you can then sell them on for a profit... But then won't she just read it on here??
try earning other ways as well as there are tons of books on ebay already so a small market for you. also if you buy cheap and resell there's more of a profit and entrepenuerial feel to it than just getting freebies and listing them! just my two pence worth.£2022 in 2022 - £1042/£2022
