  • Yay Tara for nanny cuddles - the pictures I've got of my parents holding Katie are some of my favourites as they were the first to hold her after us and medical peeps.

DD has been struggling with her milk supply and asked for help today. The BF lady came from upstairs and said she needs to just do more of everything, expressing, latching on and kangaroo care. She expresses 10 times a day, latches on 4, does 4 lots of kangaroo care and all the nappies, feeds by syringe every 2hrs etc through the day. When I got there at 3pm she'd only had a packet of crisps in the entrance foyer today! :( I think the lack of supply is tiredness, stress of being up there on her own while OH works and lack of food. Anyway, she asked the lady about some tablets that another Mum had suggested to help her supply and she said yes it was a good idea and ask the nurse. The nurse asked the doctor who won't perscribe them as she didn't have Poppie there! She has been given the address of a doctors surgery she can walk to tomorrow. I remember you having supply problems, did you take them and were you ever perscribed anything while Rhys was in, although I don't get how they gave her iron tablets and others stuff 2 weeks ago!!

    Tara thats fantastic news !!!

And carla, of course you can bring the kids !! I could bring Jas if you want so Katie has someone to talk to ?? Mrs M and Tara will not have their kids, but I would hardly think they would mind !!

Yeah, like I would say no! :p:rotfl:

where are you ladies going/planning on getting up to on sunday then!?

mm - no need for you to bring Jas if you are going to have some nice quality adult time to yourself -- Katie is usually quite good with entertaining herself anyways! - althouh no doubt it will be this time round that she will be a pita!! lol
    Carla-Farla!! :)

  • Tara - no wonder your DD's supply is suffering she isn't eating cos of the stupid hospital. She needs 2500 cals a day from a healthy diet.

Try and get her lots of flapjack and other foods packed with oats as that helps.

    Soooooo cross can't describe it.

Scouse ladies... Anyone recomend a nice (cheap) B&B or similar for us to stay in to visit In Laws?

I looked at a little SC apartment thing right beside Liverpool One ... it was on hotels.com and there was Quidco but I can't remember the name. It had great reviews but in the end I chose the Radisson cause they had a special offer making it the same price.

I don't know about B&B's in Liverpool - i've only ever stayed once, in my youth, at the very dodgy Feathers Hotel. I actually lost something there ;).

So did a guy friend of mine... I wonder if it really is a small world :rotfl:

Tara, does your DD have a photo and something that smells of Poppie when she's expressing? And flapjacks would be good, and also good for snackfood in a Tupperware box in her bag, if she can get someone to make them for her/make them herself?

Curry was indifferent tonight but the people were excellent. I'm so fortunate to have a lovely husband, a lovely baby, lovely friends here (in the real world) and here (you lovely people) and in various countries I've lived in. I really do feel very blessed today :A

I had them (metachlopromide) after I had had AB's which affected my supply. They don't always work.. they are a treatment for vomitting IIRC but the side effect it they stimulate lactation. Domperidone also work according to research.

THIS however does work! and is actually not as gross as it sounds.

She needs to eat loads as well.. pasta, pasta and more pasta.. you could make her up some cold pasta salads which she can eat at the hospital.. cooked pasta with meat and salad or in pasta sauce or cheese.. it'll all help!!

It's Domperidone she'll be after :) Yes, I took it, still do ;) I went to my GP (one of the few times I left the hospital) and had to explain to him why because he didn't immediately know why I would want an anti-sickness drug for increasing milk supply but when I pointed it out he said he could see why it would work (obviously secret doctor knowledge!). They'll only prescribe me it when I ask for it, not put it on repeat prescription because I'm not using it for it's intended use but they've never refused me it when I've requested it. The dose for increasing milk supply is 9 tablets a day when the dose is supposed to be limited to 3 tablets a day. I did take 9 a day to begin with but it gave me a dodgy tum :o Now I only take three a day - don't want to risk stopping it now iyswim! More info here :)
