My mum called the 'a's central incisors and the 'b's lateral incisors in my baby book. Is that right?
(I just did the dates on the picture in Alice's red book so I haven't had to call them anything.)
a = central incisor
b = lateral incisor
c = canine
d = first molar
e = second molar
if anyone cares

OH couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted to so my birth plan said, " My husband would like to be given the opportunity to cut the cord." He never got the chance though as they cut it themselves straight away for no good reason.
Thats a shame. I must admit I had a fantastic midwife. She was only young about 25 but she was brilliant, not like the horror stories you sometimes hear about the older MWs and their 'I know best' attitude
When we first got there she asked OH about the cord and he said he'd like to do it, but when the time came and it was urgent, she still took the time to say 'sorry, i'll need to do it quick' to him.0 -
Have you asked whether you can get one on the NHS? My cousin (who had lost lots of weight) got one at Dryburn on the NHS.
I didn't know you could get them on the NHS with it being cosmetic rather than necessary surgery.
I mystery shopped a cosmetic surgery company once, and they said they could sort it out for around £5k :eek: Sadly it was just the consultation I was mystery shopping and not the actual surgery.
My Mam's friend got one for free. She had to have a hysterectomy but the surgeon was an old family friend and he did a tummy tuck while he was busy doing the other surgery for her.OH watched it all! He was and still is fascinated by the way the babys skull bones crunch up as they squeeze out, he was on a high for a good few weeks after the birth and took great delight in telling everyone that came to see the baby how fantastic I was for giving birth and how amazing watching a birth was.
He wasn't put off me by it either :cool:
That's like Craig. He was so excited and watched it all. The midwife handed Charlotte to him first and he loved that. He cut the cord as well.
My ex was present when the boys were born but he sat in the corner out of the way as he didn't really want to be there. I ended up ringing my Mam both times as I wanted someone to hold my hand and stuff
My Mam enjoyed that as I was an emergency c-section, then my brother was a bigger baby, so the said she had to have a c-section at 38 weeks as they didn't want her to try and deliver him naturally. She always felt she missed out as she never went through the natural birth process. Being at the birth of my boys and experiencing it with me helped her get over what she missed and I know she is really thankful that I asked her to be there.Buttonmoons wrote: »Beccles, thats what I'm trying to get on the NHS (and I know its controversial, cosmetic surgery etc) and I have my app on March 5th, but that doesnt mean I'll get it, just a plastic surgeon looking at it.
I didn't realise that was what the surgery was for. I saw you mention it before but didn't say what for and I didn't like to ask
Let me know how it goes as I'd be interested in it.
I manage swimming with a low cut leg cossie and it holds it in. I also manage with bikini's with big pants.
While we are talking about births, did anyone's birth plans go to plan? I've had three babies but stuff was never carried out as I'd written down and there were upsets with all three births. It made me wonder what the point of writing them wasHere I go again on my own....0 -

I can't compare my 2 either because I can't remember every detail as it was so long ago. I did have a baby book for DD but it went missing in a house move.:o
How is Dylan getting on with his funky chair?0 -
My DH and births.
The boys births were had on DH. DS1 had problems at the pushing stage, he was in distress and then resusitated for 15mins. During which time I was sleeping, would wake to push and pass out again. Then when he was born I was sleeping. Woke up to see them squeezing his toes then suddenly he was on my chest. He was very scared and shocked, but up my end (by my head).
With DS2 it was different, he got a call to say 'get up here now.' Walked in when they were scanning me searching for a heart beat. Then I was taken for my c section under a GA. He was left on a bench, and he says he sat there a long time then out came a baby in an incubator, then me wheeled past and it was one midwife who noticed him. Then in ICU when everything got funkey, he was squeezing my hand as they tried to get me to wake up. He said I squeezed his hand once and he was so releived. Then the 3 days where I was kept asleep. He saw everything that happened and was told to 'prepare himself because she may not make it'. Also he was visiting DS2 in NICU when he was poorly and told that he may not make it (I only found that out a few weeks ago). It traumatised him and it took him a long time to be able to speak about it. Actually it's only recently that he has managed that.
With Amber he was scared during the pregnancy but enjoyed the c section a lot. he wanted to look over the screen! And was pleased as punch to hold her while they finished what they were doing.
Bumbos
tbh, I can do without it. She likes it now and it's good to sit her in to play but... If you do get one the tray makes it more useful (cos they can't arch their back and fall out of it).0 -
Just wanted to pop on after yesterday's conversartion to qualify that Millie's Mum is most definitely NOT a builder called Dave (She's a lovely lady with a beautiful daughter and makes a good cuppa lol)
