Hi all, just popping in from the pregnancy thread and after a bit of advice re bouncers and swings for newborn+

I was looking at getting this bouncer from argos because I just love the little bears but have had some feedback that it won't be stimulating enough for baby as it is so neutral.

A friend who has a ten week old is singing the praises of her baby swing and has suggested this one from amazon and said her little girl wouldn't settle in a bouncer.

I just wondered if any of you would mind sharing your experiences with bouncers vs swings. I have vouchers for both amazon and argos which are burning a hole in my pocket and I want to get one bought :)
Hi Gill . Did you see my message on the PG thread to say I got my voucher, thank you very much!

We bought the previous version of this swing before H was born, and he never liked it! On the other hand he has loved his cheapy Asda bouncer (£15, the link is the same one at Boots) since he was born, and still does now at 3 months. I guess it depends on the baby?!

I would say b0llocks to baby not being stimulated by the first one you linked to! Henry's current favourite came is covering and uncovering his face with his bib! They really need little amusement when they are teeny! The thing they like the best is looking at you, pulling faces etc....

I had the barnaby buttons one and the asda brightstarts one. The barnaby one got sold pretty quick. It was too upright and Amber was never comfy in it plus the type of material attracts any stray hair from a mile away. The bright starts one is great for newborns as they are cradled close, but doesn't do when they reach 4/5 months. But then it is cheap.

But that is a great price for a swing!!!

H has made herself sick a few times from putting her entire fist in her mouth (a trick I can also do much to hubby's amusement!). She has no interest at all in rolling though! Too busy jumping on anyone and anything as if they are a Jumperoo.

    :hello:

Jack was sick twice yesterday because of it! I keep taking it out and holding his arm by his side for a few minutes but he now thinks its a game *Serious eye rolling*

I had J in his door bouncer today and he was actually bouncing for a change! J likes to rock back & for on my lap :rotfl:
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

It's your call, you might not be able to stop him anyway.

We just had a plain bouncy chair without any toys on. I used to put Alice so she could watch whatever I was doing and give her a toy.

In that case, yes make your own. And tell your OH all about how much money you've saved to soften the blow of the pushchair.
Does anyone have a lo who sucks their thumb? David sucks his and refuses a dummy but someone told me that orthodontically it is bad for them to suck their thumb?
Yes, Alice started sucking her thumb around two months and by three months never wanted a dummy because if she wanted to suck something she would already be sucking her thumb. I think by the time she was somewhere around 18 months I only every really noticed her sucking her thumb when she had nothing better to do (like on car journeys) and I don't think I've ever noticed her do it since she was two. The way I understand it, it's only if they keep doing it up to an older age that it causes problems.
