I think the problem with the taxi driver and escort on the first day is that like a lot of people, because J doesn't speak, they assume he doesn't understand either. I don't think it occured to them to say 'J, get on your seat and put your seatbelt on' - it works for me. :p
 It's really annoying that they don't train people/give them the relevent information about the children they are working with. The first year I worked on a special needs playscheme we had this little boy who had major tantrums every day. The next year we (the playleaders who actually worked directly with the children) were allowed to see the application forms from the parents which gave details of how they communicated certain things. Turns out he'd been coming in every day trying to communicate to us in Makaton but we had no idea so it was no wonder he had tantrums when suddenly nobody understood him.
Mine only worry about baby dropping below birth centile. LO went from just under 50th centile to the 99.6th. He was exclusively breastfed though, so they weren't worried, but wanted him weighed fortnightly. He is now dropping back towards the 50th.
Alice started on 75th and stayed above 50th until after she was one when she dropped down to the 25th for two or three months. But on the breastfed charts she never went below the 50th.
Mum, Dad, Ball and Pat (as in postman pat) His four favourite things. I was sure his first word would be milk. He does sometimes say 'more' when feeding, but I'm not 100% sure that counts yet.
Alice used to say "side" (as in "other side").

aless, I don't think babies are supposed to wear hats in the house and definitely not while you are asleep and they could overheat without you watching over them all the time :o

weezl, assuming he's swallowed it completely and getting it out the top end is no longer an option, getting him to a doc for an xray to check whether it's in there or just down the back of the sofa
  • Happy Birthday Erin!!!

Talking of funny centiles - LO wasn't on the chart for length at birth, then went well over the top line! Must measure him again.

We can now say four words (knowing the meaning)! :D

So cute! Clever boy, Toby x x

    Good Morning Ladies.

Happy birthday Erin, hope you have a lovely day xxx

Have read back a little but its just not going in. Sorry! :(

    Hope your all well xx

Oh hope nobody minds me having a mini brag - Lexi can now walk properly, she can walk the length of the downstairs (its all open plan) WooHoo!

Yay, Lexi! Lots of clever babies around this morning!

Also yay for sleeping Jack- that is good news Glam. Glad he slept better last night, and don't feel bad.

SS- are you going to set fire to the Dr? I would. Good news on the possible job opportunity though, that sounds very exciting.

    Hugs for poorly babies.

No mummy and baby coffee this morning as the host is poorly. I should be cleaning in anticipation of the in-laws but I can't be arsed. I'm just sorting some stuff for the NCT sale in a couple of weeks. I figure I'll try it there, then put anything that doesn't sell on eBay.

  • Buttons phone customer services and mention that you have been let down and had to get emergency supplies which cost you alot more as it was from a convinience place and would there be anyway of taking the delivery charge off and perhaps either a discount or a voucher towards your next shop.

Thanks Ladybird, we usually do it while shes in the bath ;) and we try distractions such as ducks and singing. Will have to give it a go before she gets in  Trouble is though she doesnt like being in the bathroom while I run her bath :rotfl: I think the running water scares her as she screams the place down. Loves her bath and likes showers with daddy though *confuzzled* Strange baby! Oh well Im sure she was meant to try me :rotfl:

TBH, I'd be the same (my DH has made it obvious he would love to move to the USA, but I do not want to go back), but would be fantastic if you got a tenure-track job though! I have a couple friends from PA but not really been there myself :p.

It's not my first choice either but a secure job in this environment definitely appeals to me, and Pennsylvania isn't so bad. It's conveniently located for airport, cities, stuff to do, the town itself is fairly liberal-minded and they speak English. I'm going to do some cost of living research to see if we could afford a private school for the small one.

I'd probably be calling NHS Direct.

I would if he didn't work directly under my apartment *rolleyes*
He has a weird accent and I find it hard to understand him, and OH didn't translate the last bit till we were already out of the room otherwise I'd have argued with him. Telling me to (specifically) breastfeed my daughter less?!?! Pfft.
