Evening all. MDW, I can just picture you piroetting round your living room
Izzy managed a banana and a few biccies and perked up a bit, and I got her to bed at something approaching normal time. Will get her stuff ready for nursry tomorrow and see how she is in te morning - don't want to use holiday if I don't need to, but I can't send her in if she is still poorly either poor girl.
Krystal (or anyone else!) I have a feeding question. For the last day or so Izzy has been biting me when feeding. Not proper big chompy biting, but putting a bit of pressure on with her teeth. It is only on my left side, and I think it is because she isn't opening her mouth far enough. (she is biting me at the base of the nipple which I don't think would be the right place if she was latched on properly?) I've tried taking her off and starting again, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. She normally just sits on my lap and leans forward towards me to feed, but I've tried holding her "like a baby" and that doesn't make any difference either. I've got the lansinoh out, but any other ideas/tips?Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

I have the best husband EVER.
He says I can bid on a Stokke pram on ebay.OMGOMGOMG I bought a Stokke!!!
Hurrah for people who misspell their item names on ebay :j
I WIN. And it has a ton of stuff with it too.Not secret, but all information is on my FB status already
£440 with the carry cot, sheets, footmuff, bags etc.
:T:T:T
What kind of MSE thread is this!! Now there are 3 of us with Stokkes!!!
I wanted a beige one (good for either sex) but ended up going with what was on offer at the time.
I surveyed the deals for months and as soon as I spotted my bargain I pounced and bought a brand new one...I think for £530(although it might have been £565
) but I had no choice in the colour. I have had to buy a footmuff though.
I reckoned with resale values like they are we actually couldn't lose. Although as I said yesterday I would pay double for one I love it so much.
Does it come with a Stokke Blanket? I will be v jealous if it does.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Yay for Stokkes! Although to be honest, I really shouldn't have bought mine, I've used it all of a dozen times, and not properly since I bought the sling. I'm a fulltime baby wearer now. Next baby I won't bother with a pushchair at all.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

I must admit if I had the money I would definitely buy one!
You know the charity bags that you get through the letter box? Will they take extra in a black bag?
I've had a massive clearout and have filled 2 huge bags with clothes and 2 black bags of [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] bric-a-brac! Including 5 handbags that I never use!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Hi Glam, Im sure they would take it in a black bag, surely the more the merrier, or u could see if a neighbour has put back out an empty bag to be picked up and nab that instead!?
That Stokke looks gorgeous SS, loving ur ebay mispelling bargain!!
Quick update on my thrush situation, I have been using the cream from the docs on both me and in T's mouth. After a few days of it feeling worse, I think it is finally starting to improve slightly, yay!! Thanks for all the posts helping, I searched the user somebody mentioned (I think elle maybe, sorry memory loss) and felt better to read of someone who has had the same, so thanks for taking the time to tell me. I found a good website about it here too if anyone is interested. Looks like all the weeks I was putting lansinoh on to try and help the cracks, I was actually making it worse, doh!! Plus I went through at least half a tube of lansinoh, not very mse at all!! Lol!! xx
ETA: That sounds like Im using the same cream on me and T, its not, we were precribed seperate creams.Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -
Ladybird- Sorry I normally just lurk here. I have a 20 month DD who only just self weaned last month. She went through a bitey stage around 10 months-1 year as she had got her 4 front teeth but was getting her others through so was wanted to chew on anything that went in her mouth. The main thing I found that worked for us (though some people warn against it as they fear it will put baby off the breast, only you know your DD so ignore my advice if not applicable) Was every time I felt her start to bite down, I would say "No" firmly, but not loud or anything, then I would take her off, then after a minute put her back on. I think she soon got the message that any biting meant a break in the milk, so stopped doing it.
I also found that as they get bigger they get sloppy with their latch as they can get the milk so easily. Also found it fairly uncomfortable when she only had front ones, as it seemed all the pressure was on those teeth iyswim, but as soon as the others started to come in, and the molars, made it fine again. I found lying down feeds much easier at that stage, though not practical at all.0 -
Hiya fernliebee - I was going to say the same thing really. As soon as you feel the pressure of teeth tell her no and take her off. Izzy should be at an age now where she can link her own actions with your reaction so it may take a while but it might work.
I keep meaning to ask if there is any guidance / assistance for people who want to stop BF? I am not desperate to stop by any means but I do want to at some point...and Benjamin is 11 months today...
Perhaps when hubby is recovered I will make an attempt to stop (in my head I am likening it to giving up smokingas in it will be as difficult as that).
I think I may take Wednesday off and go to Booby Club and to see HV to see if I can get some local support but wondered if there was any guidance as to how I should go about stopping...
Edited to add - don't just lurk fernliebee - join in!! xxplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
thanks boo - gald your thrush is getting better. It was Fritha that elle mentioned. She is the sling lady that organises our sling meets in Warrington
Another question - anyone think of an organisation that would make use of some old carpet/underlay?
Don't want to take it to the tip if someone else could make use of it - not keen on Freecycle cos it's a bit manky. I know dog shelters use balnkets but I'm not sure about carpet!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

MFD - it's hard, I still find it hard not to be feeding Katie before bed it's been about 2/3 weeks now and it wasn't even my choice it was hers!
I'm with the camp of not asking not offering.
I am a bit confuzzled about how to deal with it if/when she does ask.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate it, and happy Sunday to everyone else.
We don't do V day here, but OH said he'd cook sticky pork belly for lunch. Unfortunately, about an hour before it was ready and half way through me making a heart-shaped chocolate cake, I felt really light-headed and sick just gone 12, so much so that I went to bed and slept for 45mins. Not sure what was wrong with me, as I feel fine now. The last time I felt like that was when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. I did mention that to DH and he replied "we don't do it often enough for you to be pregnant". Cue a biology lesson where I pointed out that once is all it takes. :rotfl:
3 - how lovely of you to send Liv a card.
SS - congrats on the eBay win.
MFD - Benjamin is sounding cuter by the day with his new words.
Weezl - big hugs to you sweetie. Grrr to your work for being so horrible and not giving you any straight answers. I hope your scan goes OK tomorrow.
Elle - that was a nice lay in for you today. Your V presents sound lovely.
Caz - fingers crossed for the job.0
