    Tara it also seems that the corrective surgery isn't usually an immediate, rushed in the middle of the night type procedure, even when prem, and they have time to make sure the baby is stable in other ways first.

    They can also keep the baby stable with IVs of saline (for dehydration), glucose (a little bit of nutrition) and electrolytes (for dehydration again). It's a serious thing, but it isn't an emergency surgery. They just need to keep your DD and her DD safe long enough to get her out ok and that'll be the main thing. And she's in the right place being monitored.

    Edit: the name of the surgery is a duodenoduodenostomy, and survival rates for babies without other underlying problems are super high.
