aww ((((hugs)))) elle and rhys!!
i'd want to see a diff nurse as well. she should be well capable of getting blood without causing you and rhys so much grief and hassle'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
I'd love a rest but I haven't got time for one
It's so tiring with work and all the housework, laundry, childcare and uni. I miss my Mam as well. They've been away over two weeks now but are due back at the weekend. I just want a hug from her.)
xxx<---- Fuming...
I could swing for that bl00dy nurse, I really could!!!!
Yet another faffy blood test. So Rhys doesn't bleed well - no need to make a big song and dance about it, shout about it in the waiting room (by way of explanation to other waiting patients!), huff and puff and moan about to TO Rhys! He can't bloody help it. What does she want him/me to do about it?!
Tried his foot, missed the vein. Tried his inside elbow, got it perfect then slipped with her hand and pulled it out (his arm is a mess!). Tried with the back of his hand, missed the vein again. In the end did a heel pr!ck which will mess up the results (the more squeezing they have to do to get the blood out, the higher the potassium result comes back).
It's not at all convenient with OH's working day but I'm going to try my hardest to get him to come with us next month and see what he thinks. If it's not me overreacting, I'm putting in a request that we have someone else, don't care how inconvenient it is for them to arrange! She moans every time that his veins are messed up and scarred and it's her doing it!
Need a cuppa..too. I think I would have burst into tears and had a hysterical rant at her. Poor you and Rhysy! I say get the request for someone else in now don't let that evil cow near him again.

Ironically, she'd the actual appointed paediatric phlebotomist (aka "children's blood taker") - that's all she does, day in day out! Which is why it'd be awkward to get someone else, and I know we'll end up on the ward waiting hours for a doctor (done it before), but I'd rather that than her butcher three veins a time!
ETA: Sami, am waiting til I've calmed down. Will phone OH later (won't be back in his office til half three now) and then see about phoning our nurse. Sorry I came in all guns blazing just after you'd told us about Ed's scan.. Boohiss to your sarky doctor as well!0 -
She sounds awful elle, poor Rhys that's really not nice for him. Is there a friend you could take with you next time if OH can't get away from work? They could maybe be the outspoken one on your behalf if you're busy with Rhys.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

in that case there is no excuse for not being able to take his blood without causing hassle and making errors'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

My mum came with me once - not for support, we were all going into town together after and I said she could come in to see what happens - and the same nurse was very patronising and kept explaining everything she was doing to my mum instead of me, as if I wasn't capable of understanding it. Felt like throwing a toddler stylee strop and shouting "he's my baby!" - I don't look 14, FGS!0 -
sweetie, I think you mean MFD, Mel's not posted bout chips and pizza.
not meddling, just trying to iron out any confusion
LOL - I was looking for Mels post!!!
 at stupid doc Sami - I hate it when the docs can't handle kids. I was in with the HV one day and the lady doc came bundling in...she was doing a 6 week check and thought the baby wasn't holding herself right - she asked if she could hold my baby to check it against the other on. I looked down at my massive 6 monther and said 'I am not sure that he feels like a newborn anymore', she just said, 'oh' and the HV suggested that she have a feel instead *rolleyes*
