it sucks, doesn't it? It's hard for us because DH's income varies sooooo wildly (he's job-hopped a lot
) and it's v difficult to predict whether the job he's in this yr will be the same/less/more than last. top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

yep... what makes it worse for us is you can aim for an annual top seller bonus whuch can be £1000+ and that gets counted as well. so you feel like not trying for the bonus cos the next year you can really lose out.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
We both have separate bank accounts and credit cards. We generally agree on money issues and trust each other and have pretty good credit ratings, but neither of us would want to feel guilty if we wanted to spend money on ourselves.
OH has a bank loan & car loan, then he pays TV, Sky, phone, broadband, house & car insurance, anything to do with car (cos its his even tho i'm insured & drive it sometimes & he drives me around!), mobile phone & all the food shopping.
He also pays rent out of his account but i pay my half into his account every month.
I then pay gas, elec, water, council tax, mobile phone, & my half of rent. And i will buy diesel every so often. Plus i tend to buy most of presents.
Its not accurate and we do spend different amounts but it works for us. And we just help each other out if we need it some months. Like this month and next i'm not paying council tax or water so that saves a fair bit, so i paid for the sofa we ordered from SCS yesterday! :T The one we have now was free when we got it & serves its purpose but not that nice. We've been putting off getting a new one since we moved in here 9 months ago so can't wait! His parents are going to give me £200 towards it - yay!!!!!! :j:j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy

Anillop highchair yeah, it's good. I bought a wooden one for the house and now have the antillop from the shop. Amber likes both. She does need propped up in the antillop, using blankets, the blow up thing you can buy is crap.
CSH is he facing the right due to the way he is lying? Can you try switching him to the other end of the cot or does he still face the right? You can pop a towel under the right side of the mattress to raise it up a bit. Also if he is doing the same in his bouncy chair, I used a blanket popped under her head too. Don't worry too much, he is still young but it's easier to stop it now before it gets worse.
I got a pillow from BB, lilia baby pillows (used to be goi-goi) it is just a plain pillow. SIDS don't recommend pillows for babies, but... the choice is up to you. Any small soft one will do, put it under the sheet if you do use one so he can't wriggle under it.
If you need any more advice, PM me.
3 how do you dry the trousers? I found that if I put them over the radiator they metal clasps snapped, but in the TD on the low setting they don't.
AF I think I am the only person who didn't switch to cow milk after 1year. DS1 was intolerant to cows milk so we kept him on follow on (was called growing up milk) till about 2yrs when he went off milk alltogether. He finally could take cows milk aged 4. Calorie wise there is not much difference. If she is getting an upset tummy, keep her on the follow on, if not just go to cows milk which is cheaper.
I have found that warm milk seems to fill them up more than cold milk (maybe because they drink more warm milk than cold?) so used to make up a jug of follow on and keep it in the fridge.0 -
Saying all that, I am really in charge of money stuff cos i'm much better with it (and he agrees!) so i do keep him in check & he lets me see his balance every so often so I know he's doing ok!:j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy

I've got a chill on one side of my face and my eyes are really dry and itchy still! Might try my rudolph nose thing and see if that helps any.
Oh and rant about my car... took it in today for the repairs and re-test, but they hadn't actually booked it in and the part they need won't arrive till tomorrow and they warned us 'it might not be the right one anyway'. So still no MOT or TAX! I'm so going to get a fine!0 -

Our finances are in a state, and it's my fault. I need to start working out what I need to buy at the beginning of the week and taking out cash and leaving my debit cards at home. It's just too easy to use a debit card (and in my case, over and over and over again).
Maybe I need a challenge?0 -
woohoo!!!! Just sold that till for £50
And DH was trying to get me to accept an offer of £40, ha! In your face Steven! 0 -
:mad:It's really infuriating the way benefit payments are messed about so much. I didn't get my JSA payment one time just because the person I saw when signed forgot to tick a box on the computer to say I had. It seems like the default on benefits is to just cancel the benefit without warning instead of contacting the person first. I hope you manage to get to court, can you contact one of the SWs about it?Dontknowanymore wrote: »Pants! I havent been paid my IS today, I called them and they mucked it right up, they changed my address and sent me a letter but the address is bck to my old one on file, they stopped my benefit because I didnt attend a WFI in my old town even though the appointment was sent out after I have moved!
They reckon I'll have the money by ythe end of the day whcih doesn't help that I need to get to court and have hardly any petrol, Mum is trying to do a chaps payment to my bank but cant get through to hers!
AGGGHHHH!!!!!!
We had a key meteron the electricity when we bought this house and we just phoned up the electricity company and asked them to change it and they did. We are with EbiCo (a Christian non-profit power company) though so maybe that makes a difference. We weren't with them originally but switched and then asked them to change the meter.Buttonmoons wrote: »I have to go out and get electric, I have 13p in my meter :rotfl: and that's emergency. I hate having a key thingy, but I have to pay to get it taken out? I didn't get it put in! The last tennants did.
Ours is fairly similar but the bit in bold is the bane of my life (and OH's). We each have a personal account and monthly standing orders to them set up for our personal money though.you'll laugh at ours
we have completely shared finances and run all spends past each other apart from £5 pocket money a week, which we still usually run past each other :rotfl:.
Every type of spend has a budget and we try to keep within it and are usually pretty good.
I sort the mortgage and all bills and credit cards, but make sure DH understands all the spreadsheets in case anything happens to me.
The system you have sounds fine but it sounds like you need a fairer system of money distribution. When Craig said he was a spender and not a saver, I didn't want the same thing to happen again. He also said he had no idea about budgetting and I'm quite anal about it, so he's been happy just to let me get on with it.
When I met him, I was a single parent and getting at lot in working tax and child tax credits, which I lost when he moved in. He said he would make up the shortfall, which seemed fair at the time. However I never took into account the extra costs he would bring, such as his food, toiletries, and what not, then the extra person to feed and clothe when Charlotte came along. I have asked for more money but he says he cannot afford to give me any.
I wonder if it's that he wants to read in order to relax ready for going to sleep? (Because that's what my OH says as the reason why when he wants to read at bedtime it needs to be in bed.) OH has one of those headlights which goes on your head which we use if one of us wants to read for a while and the other wants to sleep. We've also got bedside lamps but I find his disturbs me unless I lie facing away from it.Dunno why he can't read downstairs. He likes reading in bed, and I can't find a way round that as I can't sleep well with the light on. I'll look into clip on book lights and see if that would work though.
I keep meaing to ask: How is the group project going?Got part 1 of my uni essay finished this morning. Just need to read it again with fresh eyes and look for mistakes now.
Alice was singing that the other day. (Which is really funny because she's obsessed with time so you would've thought she'd get it right.)Buttonmoons wrote: »Keira was singing Christmas songs on the bus to nursery, not even quietly, proper bawling them out, I did tell her it wasn't Christmas but that was irrelevant.
