sold new phone-buyer says its been used?

Comments

  • He may also already have the same phone with a fault and fancies replacing it with a new one (i.e. yours)

Whenever you sell mobile phones, get the unique identifer off it or the box it came in and make a record of it.

I second this suggestion. I wouldn't have thought to do this if I hadn't read it on here so although I have only ever sold a few phones, all without incident, I did take down all the details before posting out the phone.

.Sent him another email late last night-stating my suppliers had been imformed and they want the phone sending back to them. Also said dont worry about the picture you deleted-they have software to view deleted files on the phones ;).All im offering him now is that he returns phone to me-il pay postage and send hima new one with a few payg sims with £15 credit on them-no money reinbursement now being offered-awaiting his responce.
one of his feedback comments here-
Received the right item, still left negative feedback, how about an email?
Reply by dalkirk: Perhaps it should be correctly packaged with correct paperwork

    perfect reply ;)

This is exactly what I would have said.

Rite then heres the latest reply from my lovely buyer.
I would prefer not to have to send the phone back due to the inconvenience to us both. I would be willing to accept £20 reimbursement. If you do require the phone back, I would require the replacement phone first as I need a mobile phone for my job and could not possibly manage without one. If you send me the new phone to my home address I will return the phone I have immedia
Im now thinking hes ben on drugs and imagined the breasts! :o
My reply is send hpone back so i can check its still working and the IMEI number matched the one i sent out-wonder how he managed to work b4 last week when he purchaed my phone??????
Think my next email to him will give him 7 days to return the phone otherwise thers no exchage-ill just have to settle for neg feedback!

Good idea, funny how the buyer thinks a £20 refund will make everything alright isn't it. I certainly wouldn't even consider sending him a replacement phone while he still has the original one.

As you say, explain that your supplier needs the phone back for checking before they will issue a replacement and if he doesn't feel he can do that then you cannot help him further. I htink giving him 7 days is generous enough for return as well.

If he negs you remember you can neg him back, it might make you feel better!

    Whoa......

You might not get the same phone back.

Buy broken faulty phone from e-bay or elsewhere.

    Buy new phone from yourself....

    Change fascias etc...

Claim new phone not working ask for refund and you are in the poop.

Unless you have kept the IME numbers etc do not refund.

Frankly I would be very careful here.

Yes be very careful! This buyer sounds nasty. The fact that he wants you to send out a 2nd phone to him before he returns the 1st is just silly, and makes me think he immediatly he is trying to scam you.

I would send one last e-mail stating your terms, and then never bother with him again. Have you left him feedback yet?

I've heard of this type of scam before.  Other situations include a complaint about the item being damaged etc when it isn't and sending a different item back for a refund.  The buyer ends up with a working item and his money back.  You the seller end up with nothing. If you don't agree you get blackmailed over negative feedback.

There are some shisters out there.

This guy sounds like an !!!!!! anyway- I'd take a negative feedback over it.  You could also argue that the new description didn't say unused.  Perhaps it was tested to ensure it worked... (mate put picture of the supposed breast on there and you didn't know)!?

Sounds dodgy if he needs his phone for work- thats not your responsibility.  If it was a private sale he has no rights other than to rely on the description.  If it was that important he should have gone to a high street shop.  Also would you leave a business phone lying around for his kid to play with- doubt it.

Stick it to him- good luck  ;D
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
