I'll be very interested to see how it sells. I think if I was going to buy a kindle I'd probably change my mind and get an iPad because it will have that facility plus the attributes of a laptop.
A problem shared is a problem multiplied. :o

The latest netbooks are not slow, 2gb ram, ion graphics and W7, 1280*800 res, work perfectly fine and just as portable as the ipad, i even have CoD4 running on mine with no problems

and a proper keyboard with out having a box of parts and cables

OSX is designed for bigger screens? The resolution on this is 1024x768 (anyone viewing on a cheapo 15" LCD will be familiar with this) and I've used it (with a mouse, not my fingers!) at this resolution no problem.
iPhoneOS is designed for 3" screens. The MacbookAir and Macbook are 13" screens, so take OSX down 3 inches and make the buttons bigger, instead of exploding 3" up to 10".
I've got an iPod and a MacBook Pro, but you won't catch me with an iPhone or an iPad.
The iPhone has all those much talked about restrictions, which a lot of people seem to be willing to put up with. They'll be less willing with what should be replacing a netbook. (That's lack of multitasking, webcam, card expansion for those who weren't paying attention!).
Having said all that, it'll be very popular. Looks like they've got the ebook reader part of it done well for books, magazines and newspapers. Add in the iTunes marketplace that's already established, and the colour and multimedia, and you've got a Kindle beater. As long as you've got strong enough arms to hold it up, and it doesn't burn your fingers!
Waste of a 10 inch screen for me at the moment though...

I'm not an Apple fanboy but I do love my ipod touch. I've been pondering buying an ebook reader for some time now but will almost definately go for this. I'm starting my own wedding cake business up and this will be ideal for showing photographs of my work to prospective clients rather than carrying about real albums. I already have a PC and a laptop in the home so don't want a netbook. For me, even after reading all the criticism it's pretty much ideal
Smashed through my weightloss target. Looking at 120lbs+ loss. BMI over 40 down to 20.5. Training hard to get body fat under 20%, not far to go now :j

Do we know for definate this won't do multi-tasking? It has a faster processor than the iPhone so may be able to, or is it actually a restriction of the OS?
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I don't want one, i had a tocco lite touch screen phone and it kept making mistakes on the touchpad, i would rather buy a new key than a whole new touch screen. i will stick with getting a laptop.
    Owed out = lots.
