So...so you need to carry a STaaand.. oh, and a keyboard around with you... right right. or you lose half the screen if you actually want to type anything.

And its more convenient then a netbook you say.

Of course you don't need to carry a stand and a keyboard around with you.

Good grief, you've seen a book haven't you? You can obviously read, so I'm sure you've came across one at some point. They're made out of paper and have what we call "pages". You hold it in your hands while you're reading it. People have been reading things this way for thousands of years.

It's usually up in a few hours.

If you put your email address in here, they'll email you when it's available on Apple's site.

There's a video showing off the device here.

Cheers - i'l try just before 10.30 - try and download during the night to watch on my arduous commute to the office!

Basically an iPhone/iPod that won't fit in your pocket. I have a laptop that doesn't fit in my pocket that has a decent operating system that isn't made by Apple and it does everything I want so I think I shall give the digital tampax a miss.

I would rather have a great OS made made by Apple that works great, looks great and is installed on great looking hardware.
It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC

I would wait until you try one out before you draw any conclusions as to how good it is. Personally, I find the idea of sitting on the sofa browsing the net or checking my emails just as though I'm reading a book to be very appealing. It's certainly a much more natural way to do it than using a laptop.

It gets dull after the 10th or 20th time you do it, and franky typing out a long email sucks on a touchscreen keyboard, if it has a decent transcriber its nice as you can actually write out a email.
HD movies isn't really a big deal esp if your sitting on your coutch in front of a big flat screen. (and more then often im thinking why am i squinting at a tiny screen when I could be looking at my 24" monitor)

Pricing makes it tempting but EU pricing will probably kill off any intrest I have in the device.

However is the pricing is good and it has a note taking program that can compete with one note ill get one.

From what I've read so far (only just got in so haven't read much yet) it pretty much is a big iPhone/iPod Touch.

It looks OK and it's a lot cheaper than most people were expecting. Not sure how successful it will be as tablets have been around for ages but this is a slightly different take on them.

I have to say though the name is awful. The iPhone was obvious but OK, iPad just sounds naff. I think I would have preferred iSlate but i suppose iPad fits in with the whole iPod/iPhone convention.

Ya. I get the whole book thing.;)
Its just like a book, in fact its so much like a book i may as well just read a book.

But what if I need to type something? I mean type with both hands.
or maybe list lots of things on Ebay, should I go get my netbook now?
Or just get up and sit at the desk top.

I agree with what the poster above said, its just an Ipod that wont fit in your pocket, it doesnt do anything that other devices are not already doing better.

It does look nice granted, but I think I will still browse the net on my laptop and watch movies on my tv and read BOOKS when I need to relax and read.;)
