I wish I could stay asleep longer. Once I am awake my mind starts working and that's it. I think I am a morning person as I am capable of getting a lot more done in the morning- yet I stay up late -mostly go to bed around midnight.0

Keep working on it NR. I used to be like you but I've turned into a later morning person. I work and think better in the morning but hate any appointments before noon. Going at a slower life pace but still doing "stuff" is great." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

What I use in winter are flannel sheets from Northern Nights on QVC - the ultimate in luxury - sublime - they are warm when you get into them and sleep is instant. There are many delicious ways to enjoy retirement and a dreamy bed and late awakenings are top of the list. If my phone goes too early I just ignore it.
My old gran always used to say....'A ringing telephone is an invitation to answer...not a command! (I think I'm turning into my gran!:o)
Wombles off to investigate 'Northern Nights'0 -
Thank Goodness for Caller Display!! I have a phone next to my bed and peer at it if it rings early purely as I have a 97 year old mother in a Nursing home, but if I don't see their number I ignore it.
Yes...check out Northern Nights - I guarantee a wonderful relationship!member # 12 of Skaters Club

I refuse to even contemplate getting up until 'Book of the Week' finishes on R4! (10.am.) Friends and family have instructions to never, ever ring before 10.30 am. Ye Gods...I spent a fortune on memory foam pillows, mattress toppers and Egyptian cotton sheets, DAB radio etc and I'm bloomin' well gonna enjoy 'em :rotfl:
Nice to see youour paths haven't crossed since CBB
. I have an electric double bed with separate controls for each side and Tempur mattresses/pillows. I still don't sleep well due to a sleep disorder consisting of extremely vivid dreams/nightmares etc., but it's better than a normal flat bed as I usually find if I have to stay away from home

I have a solution to this, the phone is on DH's side of the bed and I take my hearing aids out at night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Well I spent 22 years getting up at 5 in the morning, and although I retired 14 years ago it took me nearly three years to stop waking at that time in the morning.I am sadly one of those people who once awake has to get up no matter what the time.I am usually up by 6.30 at the latest and surf first for a little while and check emails.Normally have breakfast just after 7.00 and then plan my day.I have found that I could actually do with an extra few hours in my day to get everything in.Three days a week I do the school run with my DGS,plus I craft, bake, have my Uni class and essays to catch up on.Plus I swim, knit, watch t.v. and when the weather is good, like to walk in my local country park. Not too far, but I do like a breath of fresh air at least once a day.
I read quite a lot as well. The time just seems to vanish, today I have to wait in for a delivery so I shall be ironing, baking, probably sort out some genealogy stuff to go into my smart new bookshelves when they arrive. Plus catch up on some reading for my next essay.I think if I went back to work it would seem like a holiday.I do sometimes have a short nap in the afternoon after lunch when the 1.00p.m. news is on t.v.that recharges my batteries for the rest of the day.0 -
Had to be woken up at 6.40 this morning as was staying at my daughter's and she was off to work at 7 am and I was taking GD to holiday club. Of course she wanted daddy to take her not granny.
Didn't want to wake up but did not find it too hard.0 -
I'm retired for about 7 years ,and I'm earlier waking up now than when i was working.Up most mornings by about 5:15 a.m. Do daily clicks on computer take cuppa to my other half at 6 have leisurely breakfast and take the dog for a walk at 8. Quite often so tired as to go back to bed for half an hour mid morning!0
