B&Q changing their refund without receipt policy

Thios only affects the muppet who wants a refund and has lost the reciept. Those who genuinely purchase something that is faulty need not worry. Only recently at my BandQ I was given a replacement item, even though I had already binned the original packaging and it was 45 days later.
No Problemo!0 -

what is the script if we purchased an item (shower enclosure) and its not the right size? It was purchased end of November whilst they had a 10% discount promotion on, but we have just got round to renovating our bathroom now. we still have the item in the box with packaging and receipt, dont want to go to hassle of taking it back to be to be told get lost0

You've changed your mind, in effect, and a lot of time has passed. I think you will be told to get lost. Sorry.0 -

I wouldn't expect them to refund you but as long as its not a bespoke one they will prob let you exchange up on itAlways ask ACAS0 -
I returned a faulty shower unit to B&Q once (it only ran cold) and was told by the store manager they couldnt even do an exchange on faulty goods that had bene used. I said it hadnt been used, merely plumbed in and turned on. He said it was wrongly plumbed in and as such was used......
I went out of the store in a fit of rage, called into the neighbouring branch and hey presto, no problem - heres your replacement unit sir!0 -

Did you write to head office to let them know your local store was underperforming?
Having said that, or local B&Q is rubbish and I haven't written it up.0 -
I did once, when something was labelled £12 on the shelf and at the till came to £30. I queried it and was told to be away on. After I wrote, i got a £20 voucher and that one section of the store was tidied up and items put on the right shelves. They never kept it tidy or tidied the rest of the store.
Its such a shame they more or less have the monopoly on the DIY market.0 -
...as I discovered today after committing the cardinal sin of turning up with a £7 B&Q item to exchange for a cheaper item (but without the receipt).
I bought the item a good week before they changed their exchange policy so at the time there was no obvious need to keep the receipt.
But it seems they are applying the policy retrospectively - eg they won't honour the policy that applied when the item was bought (presumably because they can't confirm the date of purchase without a receipt).
I imagine this may well be legal from a small-print point of view, but as a customer who has spent close on £1000 with them recently, I feel like they're treating me like an absolute mug.
Guess where I won't be buying the bathroom and kitchen that I'm replacing later this year.0 -

The returns policy wasn't in when you bought it but it was in when you wanted to return it and thats all that matters theres no retrospective aspect to it. You should always keep your receipt and not take advantage of B&Qs generous returns policy which isnt so generous anymore becausae of people like you and the dodgy people that really do take the mick.0
