  • I think you need to calm yourself down namco. Sounds like your not getting much work seeing as you are having to promote yourself on MSE.

Sorry to disappoint you kiddo. I'm getting plenty of work thanks! :D

You can quote yourself all you want. What you said was still wrong and I'm sick and tired of having to re-explain to clients or other people that this or that is wrong thanks to information supplied by misinformed people such as yourself.
Now stop touting for business without approval from the forum.

    Right.

    Because that's what I did wasn't it.
Yes. I left my number on the post for people to contact me for my awesome work.

Well if you'd actually read the post, you'll find that I didn't do that!

All I did was to clean up your mess. The problem is with "giving an idea" is that people can interpret that as gospel, especially when you've put it on a well known site and you yourself have some sort of reputation here, as seen by:

Read up on google ad words and search engine optimisation as that is what my son works on.
  • Reading through this thread in detail emphasises just how complex is the subject of SEO (anyone claiming otherwise is just trying to 'big themselves up').

There are so many points raised in this thread that it is impossible to do justice to them all.

The discussion about meta tags is one example worth picking up on to illustrate the complexity of this subject.

Firstly, steve1980 refers to meta tags generically as though they can all be considered in the same way. There are many different meta tags each of which is treated by search engines in different ways.

Secondly, namco says that meta tags used to help but doesn't specify which ones he means and in what way they (used to) help.

To clarify what I mean, let's talk about one particular meta tag - the meta keywords tag. Matt Cutts, Head of Google's Web Spam Team, has publicly announced that Google does not use this meta tag at all to determine rankings. Sorry, I would have posted a link to this video but cannot because I am new to the forum. If you want to find the video, just google "matt cutts meta keywords tag youtube". But the keywords tag is only one of a large number of different meta tags. Matt Cutts also says that every web page should have a unique and properly crafted meta description tag. However, this is not used in the calculation of rankings either. Where it is used is in the summary that is shown for your web page in the search results i.e. it affects what is shown but not where the page ranks.

So, one tag is ignored, another is important, and so on. That's straight from 'the Google's mouth'.

The subject is so complex that the most important decision may well be whether you wish to embark upon self-education and DIY SEO or hand it to someone else.

If you choose the latter route, find someone you trust. If you don't know an SEO expert that you can trust then find somebody you trust that does know one and can make a reliable recommendation. Even then, don't sign anything (as always) without reading the small print.

Hi, if its any help, I use Cookie Creative - Graphic Design Manchester for my website and adwords campaign. They were recommended to me by a colleague. They got me in Google's top 3 within 1 week, for a fair price.

On 28 March 2012 Net66 The Social Media People suffered the humiliation of a 4th ASA ruling - that its website carried false and misleading advertising.
On this occasion it concerned TSMP falsely claiming to have various 'International' office locations/addresses.
TSMP had to remove the false claims.
(The evidence of this is at the ASA website. Go to 'Adjudications'; search adjudications for 'Net66'; look at 'Informally Resolved Cases'. See 4 results!)

This episode is typical Net66/TSMP behaviour, which also extends to its dealings with its paying customers.
And new customers are still emerging, after discovering they didn't get anything like the deal they signed up for.

I can see from the Net66 critics that The Social Media People (which is Net66) has questions to answer.

Trouble is Net66 doesn't answer critics sensibly.

If you do need Facebook advertising - just do it yourself (it's really easy), or go to another supplier.
  • Avoid this company!!!
They promise top page on natural listings and deliver a significant rise in the first month but then they don't seem to do any work on your website after this initial trial month.
They get you to commit to a 12 month contract over the phone which you agree too as they showed an increase in your search result listings in the first month.
When you don't see any further improvement they tell you that you are committed to a 12 month contract.
They record the verbal agreement and threaten court action for breach of contract.
The main guy, Tom McVey and the girl who answers the phones (I forget her name), are very belligerent and aggressive.
Avoid this company at all costs!!!!
