I have just been approached by Net66 asking me to commit to a six month contract with them whereby they will optimize my website with a view to getting it on the front page of google. Been approached by other companies and ignored them all as they have demanded money immediately and guaranteed my website being on the front page which I consider too good to be true. The only reason I am considering this is as they are offering a money back guarantee if they don't get my website on the front page within the next 6 months and have agrred to ring me back to dicsuss things further after emailing everything they told me over to me so I have it in black and white. Now I would love to improve my ratings and if it is legit am willing to pay to have someone do the legwork for me however I have heard negative things about these offers and am not sure if it is a waste of the £274 it is going to cost me. All thoughts appreciated, thank you!!

Have received the email:

I am writing to confirm the details of our optimization proposal.
Once successful you will appear on the UK's top 30 search engines in the natural listings.
Costing are: only £64 set up fee, and £35 per month, what’s included..... We will provide a full in depth report at the start of the process which will show you your current position for your most competitive phrases, your page rank (a quality score by Google) and how much traffic you currently generate.
* 5-10 keywords - e.g. "telecoms, cat 5 cabling, telephone systems, fiber optics, Manchester
* on-site optimization
* keyword analysis,
* structure and content analysis
* make relevant changes to the coding of your website.
* Google analytics
* off-site optimization
* link building
* directory submissions
* site map
We will also maintain the optimization and resubmit you to the search engines on a monthly basis to keep the campaign buoyant and keep you up to date with monthly reports - which will show your up to date position for your phrases the most important phrases. The natural listings are the most prominent position on Google. As you may know, we can not guarantee any sort of position on the page, nor can we guarantee you will be on page 1. So, for you're peace of mind, what we offer is a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. The guarantee is, that after 6months, if you are not on page 1, for at least 1 of your phrases, We will give you a FULL REFUND

    Ignore it - no-one can guarantee anything with google. You can raise your own profile on google by sorting out your own keywords and maybe paying for adwords. The more you post on fora (especially if you have your web address in your profile or your signature) and use places liked LinkedIn and Twitter then your website will gradually move up the rankings.

    Don't waste your money on them for something that you can do yourself.

    I bet the company can get you on page one of google... but they will optimise your site on a term(s) that will ensure they achieve this. So this will be terms that actually are not that well searched on. Their reports will show good results, whereby, the amount of traffic will be mediocre - been there about 8 years ago.

    I went DIY after that with better results.
  • I have used net66 when I was in business. I never had any offers such a this from them, but I thought they were a genuine outfit. They were not the fastest workers, but their websites were good and they were never pushy, which is rare with these type of advertising people. Not 100% sure about optimisation. Is it easy to do, I never tried??

  • I bet I can get your site on page 1 for 'cat 5 cabling manchester' It's easy. Just had a look at the competition and I bet within 1 month (never mind 6) you would be on page 1.

    What is your site so I can look at your page titles and inbound links?
  • ps, that wasn't an advert, I do not do optimisation, my point was that they will easily achieve page one ranking for '1' of your queries.

    If they let you define which phrase, then I would be impressed!
  • I not sure about all that, you seem to know what your on about so you should be fine. I was just saying I knew them and found them to be ok. Thats all I'm still not sure what optimisation is, I'm a bit old for all that now.

    There's 2 main ways to get to the top of google

    adwords
    optimisation

    adwords is where you pay google (or a company does it on your behalf) to display your site in the sponsored links section for your chosen keywords - This is very expensive but an instant way to appear at the top of google.

    The other way is SEO or search engine optimisation. This is very time intensive and involves establishing your website so that google recognises it as relevant and pulls it up the rankings. This involves making sure you have the right and relevant data in the right places in the html and lots of relevant links to the site just for starters.
