Hi,

Can anyone tell me if you can still get Sky News if you dont have the "News / Events" package? At the moment we are paying full whack for the full package and I called them to start reducing channels so we could cut costs, but I dont want to let Sky News go as its our link to home really. I was told that I had to have the News package or else I would lose Sky News, but after a bit of research it seems Sky News is free to air? Can anyone confirm this?

BBC News is also free to view, along with many others.

Thank you all for your help. Little bit peeved now at the guy who took my call! As him saying we would need the news package to get sky news threw me off and I said we would have to call back! grrr!

You can get skynews on freeview but can you get skynews with your skybox after cancelling sky and using it as a FTA reciever. My dad can't get skynews and forums we've looked on say you can't do it either.

You also get sky sportsnews on freeview and that doesn't come with the news package on sky. When i called sky to ask why the guy keep saying i was wrong and you can't get sky sportsnews on freeview, despite me watching it at on my aunts basic freeview just 10mins earlier.

Yes you can cuz I am at the moment doing the same.

My son has a FTA box and we also have one at work. They both get Sky News no problem.

You don't however get SkySports News.

Nothing,it's working even without the card.

Is this pull your card thing out correct I pulled my card out and lost a couple of channels but then while the card was out I had to power down my sky box and when it came back on I had lost at least one other channel and my BBC 1 had changed from south to London.
