Thanks but it says their Records only go back to 1989, and he was in Prison in the late 60's early 70's. :) Don't know which Prison either.

  • Was planning to post but not a lot of point now as Bronnie has said pretty much everything I was going to say. Obviously someone after my own heart.

I have also used the Tracesmart website with some success, but again that doesn't work for everyone.

    Good luck with your search

Thanks anyway, Bronnie is plugging away for me, but only finding what we know or have done ourselves on GR Ancestry etc.

Worth mentioning for others in the same situation that posting a potted family history with key names and places on as many genealogical sites as poss. A missing parent may have had other children who might be at an age where they're researching the family tree and a name search would throw up your user details as a contact.

Have you found www.rootschat.com for this yet Lizzie? It is a genealogical site and has general boards and separate boards for different parts of the country.

I could only check death records for England and Wales to 2005 on Ancestry, not Scotland.

  • Thanks Bronnie, I will try that over the weekend.

Thanks for all you have done so far, and lets hope something turns up soon, like a reply to those letters ?

Thanks, I will have a look, but it only goes back to 1980, so that would be a stab in the dark, as we only know where he was in 1971.

    Thanks very much.
