Laminate or Carpet?

I too love carpets but with pets i have laminate & Karndean downstairs, i have two carpets upstairs which have been wet by my cats and are waiting to be replaced by Karndean or Amtico when i can afford it.
Carpets are great but i agree with previous poster i would of gone through several carpets during the time i had laminate.
On my landing i moved in and repaced the carpet with lovely cream carpet a week later my dog was sick all over it ,6 months later i replaced it as i could'nt bare the massive stain.I replaced the landing with wood effect lino and was really worried it would not work but its fantastic and as clean now as it was the day it was laid.

Unfortunately I think that wood would be out of our price range, but we did look at adding underfloor heating due to the cold in the rooms, could you have this aswell as radiators?
We are also going for a dark walnut laminate:)
Hiya,
I think we paid £26/m2 for our engineered wood, it was on offer at the time. I know some laminates can be as expensive as that!
You can have radiators as well as underfloor heating. We went for electric UFH as we have suspended floors, it was cheap to install (£1080 for 32m2) but its not that cheap to run. We have the UFH as our primary source of heating and dont need radiators. It heats the house really well and it does feel lovely underfoot.
The only problem we are finding with it is that although engineered wood is supposed to be appropriate for UFH some of the boards have shrunk a bit and there are a couple of gaps between a few of the boards. You only notice if you are looking for it though. Ive been told in summer when we arent using the UFH the gaps should dissapear again.

Our area is 47m2:eek:
We have found laminate that we are happy with for £9m2, it is something which our neighbours have and they have never had a problem with so fingers crossed it will be the same story for us:)
I did speak to my dh about ufh but he doesn't want anymore expense:o as we have just started re-decorating and we have the whole house to do:eek:0 -

When I bought this place it had laminate in the living room and hallway and I hated it with a passion. I ripped it out and replaced with cream carpets.
Now 5 years later the BF who lived in his own place is now my husband and we have 2 kids under 4 the carpet is going to be replaced by laminate again.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

I did think about this but it would only be downstairs we would have done and we get on quite well with them anyway:D0
