Letter received from Barclays 6th Feb. 2010 credit card now cancelled. Is this correct?

Have they refunded charges and then closed the account or are they sending the account to debt collection?

Get it all in writing - now. If you make a phone call or visit follow it up immediately with a letter. If the police officeer is off sick - doesn't matter - there's a case number.

I might well agree with natweststaffmember that a family member or friend is behind this. Cloning the card is one thing but to have personal details is another. The majority of Identity Theft crimes in the UK are carried out by someone you know.

Come now, the police force has more than one individual in it.

Ask to speak to his sergeant if necessary, and if he's not available his superiour and if he's not available ... well you get the drift.

Not sure why credit card now cancelled. Any answers?
  • As previously stated Barclays were not willing to refund any monies until the police has done their investigation, which will not take place until the officer returns from sick leave, as there is nobody to cover the offiers work load. I have written a letter of complaint to take to the police station tomorrow.

Ask the FOS for advice because they have effectively said you got the money, they have effectively said you are a liar and they have shut your account in spite of an ongoing police investigation. It is unreasonable for them to do this.
