Not sure if this is the correct forum as I am new to this.
Fraud was committed on my current account Oct. 2009. I have been given the run around by Barclays Bank, the service was terrible. I had to report the incident myself to the police who has not contacted me todate. Money was taken over the counter, ATM and in a shop. Today I have received a letter from Barclays holding me responsible for the full amount even though the card was in my possession. The person using my card was able to confirm over the telephone personal information relating to myself. If I am unable to reconcile the position they suggest I return to the police station where the initial report was made and advise them of this information. I now have to go back to the police station considering the fact I was told by Barclays November 2009 and 14th January 2010 the officer dealing with the case is sick and no one has taken up his case load.
I have transactions to complete 29th January 2010 and now have to pay the costs as I have no deposit money to carry on.
Please advise.

What information was used to gain money over the counter?
Was it a signature? Is CCTV available?
From the ATM, when was it and where were you and can you prove where you were?
In the shop was it Chip and PIN? Have you confirmed with the bank that it was the current card issued to you?
Do you believe a family member/significant other might have committed the fraud?
Is the pin number recorded down anywhere?0 -
Barclays has not confirmed what information was used used over the counter to gain the money.
I was told chip and pin and CCTV is with the police
From the ATM this was done October 09, whilst I was at work.
In the shop Chip and Pin was used. The bank has stated the original card was used.
I do not believe a family member/significant other might have committed the fraud. I can confirm min number is not written down anywhere0 -
Is the pin number and obvious one, ie birthday/anniversary?
Have the police updated you with their investigation because if you have the Police reference number then you should tell the bank that you will not pay anything since you didn't commit the crime. The bank have to prove that it was you using the card.0 -
Presumably the police are therefore able to say whether or not it clearly shows you using the card at that time?...I was told chip and pin and CCTV is with the police...
It could be that someone has cloned your card and saw (or recorded) you entering your PIN. Quite a common occurrence, especially using a camera to see the PIN being entered, hence why latest advice is to always shield the keypad when entering the PIN.
Anyway, find out from the police what they say the CCTV shows.
(they may not say who it shows, but should be able to confirm whether or not it clearly is you)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Then ask them since you will have a crime reference number and that is what you will give to Barclays and tell them that whilst the police are investigating you wish Barclays to hold fire and when they have decided fully what they are doing for them to give you their final response and take it to the Ombudsman,0 -

Crime ref number given to Barclays november 09. I contacted the Ombudsman 26th january 2010, who has written to Barclays informing them I have raised a complaint against the decision made. I am also in the process of sending a letter and e-mail to the chief exec;.:mad:0 -
Letter received from Barclays 6th Feb. 2010 credit card now cancelled. Is this correct?0

Have you contacted the police yet to discover whether they have reason to believe it was or wasn't you shown in the CCTV footage using the card?"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
