I realise that at the time I should have asked to speak to a manager but my son was balling his eyes out and that was my priority at the time.
I used to really enjoy our trips to this Toby but I'll happily drive 20 minutes further and take my business to another Toby.
I would like to think that if I was a manager in one of these place I would at least have the decency to apologise unreservedly to my customers but at no point did anyone apologise and that is what has really annoyed me, if they had just said 'Very sorry if we have caused offence', I wouldn't have complained a second time.
I don't think my custom or rather not will impact them that much and at the end of the day, that's all they see, 2 people not coming anymore, ah well, not too much to worry about for them.0 -
Which one was it, just so I make sure I never go there?0

I had a waitress take my plate away whilst I was still eating once. As she whipped it away you could hear the knife scraping against the plate where I'd been in the middle of cutting something.
And once we ordered a meal for about six of us - all sorts of different dishes - and everything came coated with horseradish. Most odd."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
We go to a nearby Toby quite often, and the service is always, without exception, dreadful - it's become a joke among us it's that bad :rotfl: But the food's lovely which is why we keep going back0

My last visit to a TC is well and truly my last also. We waited ages to be served when waitresses were just chatting. By the time we were able to order desert the "bottomless jug" of custard turned out to be one small coffee cup for two people.
I let my brother have his desert with custard and I waited...and waited....until it finally came (after I had reminded them twice) half an hour later.
The staff were rude, it was just the most miserable dining experience ever. The Carvers were courteous though0 -

I'm not sure they would even claim to be chefs. Most of Spirit groups food comes in frozen and is just defrosted and then boiled in a bag. Even the roast beef for the Sunday dinners come in the same.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
The trouble is, and I'm not defending poor service, if you are paying £5 for 2 courses, now much do you think they are paying the staff?0

Maybe the language wasnt ideal but you sound like you were a right pain in the !!!! as well.
You were paying next to nothing and seem to expect some sort of premium service.0 -
As long as you keep the tables turning over quickly then you can get away with charging cheap prices. I would be more bothered about how much the food is costing them to start with. We used to do two full 8oz steak dinners with onion rings, toms, chips, peas for £5. We just put the price up on drinks hoping people would spend money on drinks whilst eating. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

You really do get what you pay for, and you have to remember that. If you want good service then don't go to a Toby. I have been to a Toby on many occasions and I go with very low expectations. The food is usually ok - sometimes not. The service is always awful, and the other customers are often not exactly conservative voters if you know what I mean.
Having said that, I do feel for your experience. It is very foolish of any company to treat complaints badly.0
