All Things New York & £150 Flight Deals MERGED

Yesterday (the 29th Aug), I searched for flights to NY over the holidays in October. (20th till 29th). There were 4 airlines offering tickets for aroung the £250-£270 price. Today, every airline for the same dates is offering £360-£370 tickets. How do they all justify a £100 price increase in one day AND all be within £20 pounds of each other? Should I hold off and purchase last minute tickets, or should I buy now and take the hit?0

I felt the same.. shocked! within the space of 3 days the price jumped from £193.80 => £264.80 => £3440

Wow, that's a big leap - looking on the gright side, you did get yours when they were £200, didn't you ?
On the flip side of the coin, I've been keeping an eye on flights to Florida on a multi flight itineraary that I'm doing in November an din the space of 3 days they have come down in price by £300 per seat (plus tax).
Wild, wild, wild fluctuations.

No because I worked messed me around concerning the days I could take off. So now I'm wondering if I should just go with £250 Opodo price for end of Sept - End of Oct return.0

Ouch.
You could always look on the bright side and consider that £250 is a lot better than £344 (just trying to cheer you up a bit !)

this is true. American Airlines or BA, what do you think?0

For me (& i may be in the minority in this). I always fly AA to America and have found them to be very good. After a nasty flight to Nairobi cattle class with BA I said that I would never, ever fly with them again.
Just don't expect much on the "smiles front" with AA flight stewardesses - they all appear to have had it trained out of them at hatchet faced harridan school !!
But apart from that, they're very good.
If you do go AA, register for AAdvantage beforehand as that will allow you to pre assign your seat (after of course checking out the best seats on https://www.seatguru.com.

Yes the cheapest i can see with delta Edinburgh to New York is £862.60 for 2 people. (I am traveing in march)
Traveling Glasgow to LGW > NYK works out at £460.80
So £402 cheaper0 -

Your connection time is fine BUT make sure your flights are on one ticket: if they aren't your bags can't be checked through. As you're taking a shuttle anyway you may also want to think about routes with KLM through Amsterdam or Air France through Paris, but as I'm guessing you're paying about £200 for the transatlantic fare, that is good.
Just went to the US on Virgin and British Midland refused to check my bags through (I left from Edinburgh() which I suspected they wouldn't so it was very annoying but no surprise. It makes a long journey much more stressful though.
Thanks for the tip , i have never flown long haul nor have i used connection flights.
I am wondering how i will go about getting flights on the same ticket.0
