    ...............

I have had major issues with my skin over the years and the only thing that keeps it under control is Dianette, a contraceptive, as we discovered it was essentially a hormone imbalance that was at the base of the problem. If this is an ongoing problem for you, or if you have any other symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic ovaries), this may be something to investigate!

    ...................
hi, I had the same problems with spots on my back and chest and was put on dianette. cleared the problem right up, but have now been changed onto yasmin pill as i was told it was more suitable for longterm use.
my gp is convinced i have pcos because of these spots, being overweight and abit hairy but whenever i am tested it shows nothing except a slight hormone inbalance.

maybe when you see your gp you should ask to have a blood test to check your hormones?

    good luck

I think the sunlight helped as the wavelengths of sunlight kill off a lot of the bacteria that cause spots. There are blue light lamps that you can buy that simulate this safely (safer?) but they are really, really expensive even on ebay.
Diannette worked wonders for me but I can't take it at the moment.
I'm planning another trip to the doctors once I feel brave enough to sit in the waiting room with no make up on.

Can you make your appointment the first one off the day, so there is no one in the waiting room

Not really which is a shame.
you can't book an appointment more than 2 days ahead at my doctors, the new day's appointments are released at 8:30 in the morning then the phone is engaged for the next hour or so and by then most appointments are gone. If it's an emergency they fit you in on the day but for non urgent things it's a nightmare.

    What a pity

My Dr's seem to have had a bit of a brain wave, they have a late night for people that work which I can go to

    Update:

Been on Erythromycin tablets for a month now and no great change I can see. Dr said it takes longer, which I have heard. So I have a repeat prescription to September 10. Side effects are a little worrying (hearing loss) but not as bad as Rocotrine (however its spelt)

Also asked for the Erytromcin lotion too which I was given, but only a months supply which is not enough!

Dr annoyed me though as she put it on two different prescriptions so it cost me £14.40!

I asked to see a Dermatologist as I had seen on embarrassing bodies that they did a test too see what caused it. My Dr said no, I have to go through these steps before I can get referred there. I really hope this works but I am doubtful :(

Its really getting me very down though my spots. I am very pale, and they are very pink and I can't wear anything summery as they are awful.

Hi Vikki, My daughter has the same problem. Some weeks it really flares up and ther are lots of little brown scar marks. We found Sudocrem worked well. Put it on at night and rub it in well. Be consistent with it and it might help. Her back is pretty clear right now, so we are using Bio Oil to see if it helps with the scaring. The Sudocrem also works well on the little bumps she sometimes gets on her upper arms.

If you don't do so already make sure you use your soap/shower gel after you wash your hair and make sure you wash your back throughly.
If you hash your hair after your body then your conditioner can leave a residue on your back and cause spots.

Yep. You might want to try using a non perfumed soap/body wash and bubble bath (if they do one of those) etc too to see if that makes a difference.

I have been on the tablets as well as the erythromycin lotion, the lotion seems to be making a good impact on my back so far. Fingers crossed, really hope it continues to get better!
