I think the OP is telling us that VM applied someone else's DD to their account. Chances of this happening to two people who both never look at their bank statements are remote, but not impossible.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I know this doesnt really help you but just so that other posters understand this can easily happen. My son took out a phone contract in August of last year and they are meant to take out £40 a month. The first month past and they never took it then the second month so he contacted them to say he had 2 months money in his account and was they going to take it. They told him they had already taken it. Well they hadnt as it was still in his account. So they were getting it from someone else. That other person hasnt contacted them to say why are you taking £40 a month from my account. To this day he still has every months payment in his account because we know they will catch up with it soon. He has called them now about 5 times but they just keep saying they have the money.

They were taking the money from some other Virgin persons account. So all my bills said paid (which they should have as they had all our DD details) but they took it from someone else. Now they find their fault and demand a lump sum!

OP has stated (above) all the bills said paid but is that on bank statement or V statement?

Tell him to direct debit it into an ISA so it is kept separate for when they do catch up with him but in the meantime he can benefit from the interest as a consequence of the provider's incompetence!!! :j
