Your dad just doesn't understand!
Read your policy and you will see that you do pay your excess when claiming under the section for damage to your own car, and do not when the claim is for damage to a third party.0 -
I'm sure you get a lunch break at some time.opens at 8 and i start at 8
Otherwise why not read your policy out of hours.
You've had all night to check what we're saying.
he's wrong, but why don't you ask the insurers when you get a break OR you can read the policy at your leisure, but the longer you leave it the more likely you won't have the option of stopping the work on your car.just said to my dad the now, he said don't you dare cancel, the £250 will still have to be paid, and will cost you to get your car fixed
It's very common to pay garages direct. That way they don't get into the situation where the excess is unpaid. No payment, no car, simple.also strange the fact admiral ask me to pay the garage after leave . . . why not pay them ?
Who are "they people's".now my dad is saying they people's insurance mustn't charge excess
I don't understand what he is saying in that sentence.
If you claim under YOUR policy for YOUR car, you have to pay the excess direct to the garage before you can have your car back.0 -
I agree with the others, your Dad is wrong. You won't have an excess to pay if you only claim for the damage to the 3rd party's car.
If you claim for the damage to your own car you WILL have to pay the excess. If you don't claim for the damage to your car you WON'T have to pay the excess.
I hope you have managed to contact your insurance and managed to cancel the claim for damage to YOUR car.0 -
thank you so much for all these comments, am on my break now but been on hold for like 5mins and only on a hour break so don't have time

I can't believe i listened to my dad
oh and just found the policy in small writting it says i put voluntary excess £100, my dad must have told me to as, i done of it make sence at the time when i applied for insurance when i was 19, then i just renewed it.
was told the garage would contact me the next day, they never. Maybe i could say i waited too long so paid for the repairs mayself as i needed my car, and couldn't have it sitting any longer ?0 -
i recon for a few scratches i'll get paint for about £20 from the Mini garage.
then possible they will sell the plastic bit in the parts bit.
and its only about 10min drive away.
the garage i was being sent to by admiral is about 2min drive, imagine that all the costs for admin etc, for a few scratches for £250.0 -
i guess i'll just have to pay as the claim will be through as it was a week ago, have to back to work now, but i'll try phone later.
fingers cross its not through as the garage was ment to phone next day, haven't heard a thing, what if my car was really bad ? they expect £250 and a long wait with no car.0
